This model (along with the Revell U-99) depicts a Type VII-B, a far cry from the Type IX U-505 (Revell took artistic license with the name probably to capitalize on the popularity of U-505 in Chicago IL). The VII-B is the predecessor to the vastly more numerous VII-C type and the kit probably remains the biggest scale, mass produced model of a VII-B. The model is decent and the shapes are right but the parts are basic and the hull and conning tower have no weld seam/ribbing details to speak of and are as smooth as the proverbial baby's butt. Consider it a good blank canvas to do your own super-detailing.
