I started building the new Go 244 kit from ICM at the end of last year. Overall, this is a nice model with a good fit. However, some details are missing. Especially in the cockpit there are a few things to be added. The surfaces of the fuselage and especially the engine nacelles are also missing panelling lines, rivets and some maintenance hatches, which could be added. The propeller attachment provided by ICM with a tiny plastic pin (can be seen in one of the construction photos at the front) is anything but stable and certainly cannot be attached in a moveable manner. I therefore made new movable propeller axles from interlocking ferrules.

The painting of the interior has been completed and the fuselage is now closed.

The Go 244 is ready for painting. It took a little while, as I added a few missing details and more panel lines to the fuselage, engine cowlings, engine nacelles and fin end discs. I also added the MG mounts on the cockpit and tailgate and the antenna mast, which was also missing.

The basic paintwork of the Gotha is finished, now the weathering steps follow. It should be noted that I have completely deviated from the painting instructions, both in terms of the colours and the camouflage scheme. I am convinced that the Gotha was camouflaged in the usual colour scheme for German tactical aircraft, namely in shades of green RLM70 / RLM71over RLM65 light blue. The camouflage scheme specified by ICM has little to do with the original. For my model I used various archive photos from Go 244s und the camouflage schemes of other twin-boom german aircraft, like the Bv 138 und the Fw 189.

That is an impressive paint job Christoph 👍 I'm looking forward to seeing this beauty finished!

I had always thought that a 1/48 scale model of the Go 244 might appeal to me, but never thought it would ever happen. Well, ICM has proved me wrong. Now the finished model stands in my display case, much to my delight.

Heh, I've never seen this plane before, it's like I'm watching a new Indiana Jones movie or something. 🙂

Thanks a lot, mates ๐
Well, the Go 244 didn't prove itself in service either, which is why only a few were built in the end. It may not be the most beautiful aircraft, but I find it very interesting ๐๐
