I'm interested in how the PE is going, I ordered that separately from Revell. The planes seem nice.

Hello, Steven! If one is used to handle those, I guess, it is easy- I never faced so many parts before and am learning a lot. I guess, the etching quality is okay. The instruction sheets are made well, too. Some tiny conical parts from the upper island mean the most fun to my skills- they love my tweezers as starting unit, and they fly reeeaaally far. After a while, I am always able to find them, well, uhm. 🙂

Hello, Steven, I thank you very much! The island is at 65% finishing state and really is an extra-mile🙂 But, after dealing with the most intense kit of all my stash ever, I decided to go for an acrylic case for it. I now have the first water-surface dio on my mind, Big E deserves it!!

Well, imagine building that PE on a different kit not fitting all the parts, and I still have to find decals because now I have stickers. If you're interested in an alternative cover, I order glass covers in my pet store that are said to be cheaper than plastic ones.

Daang! This sounds like an even harder task at all, my hats off!! Well, just recieved the parcel from www.sora.de today, but I would fancy this glass-cover alternative very much, please let me know more about. I wonder if Revell provided the PE instructions?

I made a project of it here, they did send all that's needed for the PE. CVN-65 Enterprise | Album by StevenVD (1:400). The elevators seem to fit to the deck, but the base for the island has different dimensions. I'll try to measure up what would be correct. For the cover I just provide the dimensions to the store owner and in little more than a week it's tailored and I can go fetch it; but the production is outsourced to a Dutch company. Here is an example of my case for Zuikaku: Zuikaku | Album by StevenVD (1:350)

I want to say thank You for Your likes and comments given, I really appreciate each one. Since the kit is almost finished and the dio as well, I am about to present pictures of the result soon. So far, this has been the most intense kit I ever started, but I am really happy with it and learned a lot at all. Thank You very much!!!!

Looking great! And this dio is actually one of the shelves in your showcase?
6 May 2024, 12:34

Hello, Steven, thank You very much!! The dio rests on a full 92mm high frame of 3mm acryl. Only the front framepiece is transparent. I am happy, You like it!

Hey, Spanjaard, thanks a lot for Your compliment. It was a great help to having You aboard the ship 😉 🙂

Thank You a lot, gorby! The dio had some nail-biting moments: I myself am really glad, it turned out that way. It was a full premiere, from glueing the acrylic frame with acetone to tea-spoon-hammering the transparent acrylic sealant to become a wavy surface. Let alone the tiny PE bits on the island- explicit language was happening time by time 🙂

Under the surface is an easter-egg....the Le Redoutable, the first nuclear submarine of the French Navy, commissioned by the French nuclear forces on 1 December 1971. Officially The Big E and Le Redoutable never met....but with the USS Enterprise being the first nuclear carrier, I arranged a rushy rendevous, at least.

Thank You very much, Mr. James. This kit challenged my skills beyond the limits, and it is for sure very easy to find some "good enough" bits and spots....but well, yeah..I am happy with the Big E.

Well you rose to the challenge Joachim. That is one stunning display. Apart from how well you painted such tiny details, I'm really impressed with the water/waves you've produced. Beautiful 🙂

Thanks a lot to everybody, who left a like! I am happy, You like my project. 🙂

Wow, fantastic looking carrier! I agree with James, the waves are really something as well. 👍

Robin, Lukasz and Neuling: Thank You very much for your kind words and thumbs-ups!
Neuling: Oh yes, it really felt like a mission, the set of PE parts made me learn "how not to" often, so I am really glad, I can present the result and state: I did it! Cheers!!! 🙂
