Made a start today. First thing to do was decide if a MK.1 or Mk.2 was to be built. I've decided on the Mk.1 so I had to cut out the parts as shown in the photo. 🙂

Today I finally completed the cockpit and fitted the cargo door into the fuselage. 🙂

Cockpit, fuselage & tailplane now altogether. Tail was difficult to get together, Added 5g of weight to the nose and 15g of weight to the front of the fuselage. 🙂

Did the upperside of the wings with Vallejo Model Air Dark Earth and Dark Green. Invasion stripes to be added next. 🙂

I built this about 20 years ago Guy as a gift for a WW2 Horsa pilot who was a friend of my wife's family. He'd flown Horsas into Normandy and Arnhem. He loved the model and it sat in his living room for the rest of his days. It's a nice kit as I recall.

Invasion stripes are now on the wings. Next is to start painting the invasion stripes on the fuselage. 🙂

@ Neil, it is quite a nice kit considering its age. The fact that you gifted a Horsa model to an actual Horsa pilot veteran is something that must have been hugely gratifying. 👍

Wow, this one brings back memories. As a teenager I loved looking through the Italeri catalogues and marvel at the paint jobs on the models. Most of them were painted by Francois Verlinden and I remember thinking I will never make models like that!

Yes, the Horsa was always a model I wanted to build and as a teenager never got one. As well as the newer tools, it's always nice to build older models that we wanted when we were young. 👍
