Kevin FouremanNice job! OI have one of these to build as well. I will be using the Brach Models kit. I have quite a few Italian tank kits I will be building in the future. Do you have any other Italian tanks done?

George Bacon SchrijverThanks Kevin! 🙂. I built Italeri's Semovente L.40 da 47/32 a couple of years ago and really liked it, although there were some fit problems on the upper hull. It sits proudly in my curio cabinet. Tried Tamiya's Carro Armato M13/40 but it wasn't coming out to my liking, and has long since departed this world. 🙂

Kevin FouremanInterestingly, while doing my research on Italian armor to prep for my projects and what kits to buy, I was able to discover that the Italeri/Zvezda kits and even the Tamiya kit was more closely correct for M14/41's than they are for the stated M13/40's. I have purchased Model Victoria's detail/conversion set and now figure between the two Italeri kits and the detail set I should be able to build both versions correctly. I also have Brach Models M15/42 as well. Hopefully will get one rolling soon. I have 5 aircraft models underway and a tank and 2 cars along with a dinosaur and several girl kits. Yep...I am crazy like that! LOL

Kerry COXGeorge, what a brilliant job and effect you have managed to create here and f I may be so bold as to make a suggestion that would "finish" this already beautiful model.
I would encourage you to now give it that "just stopped on the road somewhere" look, by doing a bit of "dry brush" with some 'steel' paint, maybe some Testors "Buffing metalizer" that will help effect a look of "steel on steel" ware, mainly on the drive sprocket teeth, the traction 'lugs' of the tracks where they meet the road, and also, the area where the rubber bonded road wheels run on the tracks inner surfaces, as this area becomes quite shiney from all that contact AND, maybe, give the rubber bonded "ROAD' wheels some blackening , only on the surface where they roll along the track too.
These little bits of detailing wins competitions.
Believe me, this will really make your masterpiece the talk of your club.
I do it to all of my AFV's and it always gets the viewers of your work, to really look harder at the attention to detail you have already achieved.
I hope you don't mind me suggesting these tips, as my comments are in NO way, a criticism of your work.

George Bacon SchrijverThanks for the tips Kerry. I already do "metalize" appropriate road wheels, etc. I also usually use it around the gun muzzle and other places of "wear". It doesn't show well in the photos, probably because I often apply a dust filter (especially on desert subjects) just before the final dull coat. It kills the sheen of the metal, but a judge with a good light will see the attempt. Thanks again!

Aghis, the pitting was done by applying salt to a rust colored base coat, then overspraying the final color. The salt is scratched off after the paint dries (I used acrylics).
