February 14, 2021British A27L Centaur close support howitzers. RMASG (Royal Marine Armored Support Group), D-Day, Normandy beachhead, 6 June, 1944. RMASG was the only unit to deploy Centaur tanks in combat in WWII. During the initial beach assaults, they were firing direct support for troops on the beaches from landing craft off-shore. Once the beachesweree secured, they went ashore and continued fire missions with some remaining until the end of June 1944. Markings and camo were also unique. Azimuth calibrations were to assist fire control observers in clocking the guns onto targets. The tanks remained in the SCC-2 brown base camo paint which was non standardized in April 1944 (SCC-15 O.D. was the new standard).17

May 17, 2021M10 Tank Destroyer of 702 TD Battalion, Operation Cobra, July 1944. TD's and light tanks in Normandy were quickly fitted with sand bags for additional frontal protection due to their thin armor. A hedge row cutting plow has also been added. December 25, 2022M4 105mm howitzer assault gun. Late production M4's (new hull, large hatch) were built as 105mm assault guns to provide high explosive fire support for infantry and tanks against enemy strong points, bunkers, and other fortified positions. If needed, the howitzer was effective against armored vehicles as well. Assault gun Shermans were typically deployed as a 2-gun battery in tank company HQ sections and 6-gun battery in battalion HQ sections. A total of 1641 was built between February 1944 to March 1945. These tanks were very similar to the contemporary M4A3 105 assault gun.26
