I would consider scraping those fat propellers gently with a sharp blade, unless you go with photo etch. It is usually fun, a little tedious but looks very nice, also assumig the propeller part doesn't break or snap in the process. I have no idea if photo etch propeller blades is included in this 1:700 kit.

Good idea about the propellers! I've already painted the propeller on this one so I'll leave it that, but I have another kit of this sub and might try it at that one. Though I'm not sure if my manual skills are up to the task.
There are no photo etched parts in this kit and I don't think there are any available.

So you wrote that you want to keep it this way, but if scraping the prop blades, it is a good idea to work more methodically, unless you know what you are doing, it is a good idea to scrape a little on each of the blades, instead of trying to finish one propeller blade 100% before you go to the next. And you don't want to cut into the plastic by pushing the blade, just gentle scraping, eventually making the propeller having a more sharp edge.
