The day after the longest day

This is my first big diorama and the first of my project I feel confident enough to post on Scalemate

I had this idea back in june 2024 when I went on vacation to normandy and saw the 80th D-day anniversary celebrations. I started sketching it on vacation and immediatly when I came home I went to crafting stores to buy all the needed supplies like foam and balsa woods. I started building the diorama around august 2024 but it went together quite slowly because of my studies.

The first part of the diorama I built was the house, and I assembeled everything around it, I chose the M8 greyhound as the main element because I really like that vehicle and always wanted to make one, It's the classic tamiya kit with some eduard photoetch, miniart figures and plusmodel stowage set. The scondary vehicle is the little jeep used as an improvised command post, it's the meng "MB military vehicle" with some random bits I had laying around. The soldiers are from the tamiya US scout set.

I'm overall very happy with this first contact with the diorama world and I will definitely make more diorama and scenes in the future, as it is easier and much more enjoyable than what I thought at first glance
