I finally decided to repaint the top with Vallejo gray primer, especially since I sanded in many areas, puttyed again and sanded again. With the primer I still see some joint areas on the front part of the fuselage that show a step due to a poor fit or that I have to shape.

I'm not going to strip the paint on this model, I think it has a pretty decent layer to use as a primer. I have removed some decals that I had put years ago since it was unfinished. Putty various parts with huge holes, sanded joints etc.
