This model represents an F-15C of the 3rd Wing circa 1994. These aircraft were based at Elmendorf AFB near Anchorage. Up to eight fully-armed Eagles would deploy to King Salmon at a time, and two were always on 24-hr., 7-day per week alert. I provided routine weather briefings and special weather data reports for scrambles to the F-15C crews deployed to King Salmon. The F-15's Mach 2.5 maximum speed and powerful AN/APG-63(V)1 radar allowed it to find and intercept even the fastest enemy aircraft, and also had excellent agility for dogfighting.
