Looking at bug photos the bottom of the doors they appear to be canvas like material which show creases and while airfix have done a great job of reproducing the clear plastic wrapping of the real thing, I felt the canvas section was a little too smooth, with a Dremel I've attempted to add some creases. Hopefully these will look the part once kit finished?
I've been told the clear spur is actually new as original moulds where lost, which could explain the great plastic look of the side "glass" pieces

The chassis is one piece with the engine and transmission?

#István the chassis is made up of around 6 parts the suspension 11 and engine transmission 9 but as you can't display any of it exposed (I have no idea how bug owners got access to the engine) I've just through all parts together and will paint them a metallic/black.. once body work fixed to chassis that'll be last it's seen 🙂

Had a wee issue with painting the roof, managed to get some chrome paint where I didn't want it rushing 🙄 and in attempt to remove I messed the orange (Tango) and had to remove it

Well the ammo cobra paints work well, great coverage and the 2k varnish gives a great shine. You do need to leave the 2k a good 24 hours to fully harden though

All done. Quite a fun little model. May at some point paint the included figure.

Robert, just be aware that the decals are only for the orange version!

Aren't these the same, John? I am not a specialist on Bugs but on photos they look the same:

Yes, Robert. The Bug was available in several colours, but some of the decals in the kit are for the orange paint scheme, so they won't match if you paint it any other colour.

You're perfectly right, John - now I see these. So, I will have to think it over if I will just omit them... or make new ones... 😉

As for decals while they are only for the orange they are good decal nice n crisp do you could make your own from them as the small rear decal is the same as the front one and as they are black easy to use on clear decal paper no worries about needing a white. I look forward to seeing a green bond bug some time 😁
