Republic Nu-Class Shuttle

April 2, 2025So I decided to give this kit a go... Supposed to be an easy snap fit. It has very little detail and the overall fit is pretty damn rough. There will be lot of filling, sanding, scribing and adding panel details. Also lights. Lots of them.2
April 2, 2025Starting with the cockpit. Currently it's just painted fibre optics on a white LED, but I will switch to colored and blinking LEDs eventually.3
April 2, 2025Started to scribe a bit, and added some styrene bits and pieces for details.4
April 3, 2025some lights for the back burners, I still need to figure out a way to light the main engines, drilling them out could be difficult, due to the way they are attaced to the backplate.5
April 3, 2025Adding more and more detail to the hull. Not really something I've done before so far and I'm being my usual sloppy self. Hopefully a good coat of primer will hide that.6
April 4, 2025bit of primer to see how it looks7
April 6, 2025I like the color combo so far8
April 7, 2025more lights...9
April 7, 2025so I got 1 white, 1 green, 1 red, 1 red blinker and 4 blue LEDs in there. Holding most of it down with black hot glue and trying not to pinch any fibre optics when closing her up. The hole in the wing on the left side is way too big and visible from the outside when the wings are extended. I'll have to patch that up later. Hopefully the smaller hole will leave enough room for the optics to move freely when I move the wings.10
April 7, 2025as luck, or rather the lack thereof, would have it, I somehow managed to unpluck one of the red wires in the wing (right side), so I'll have to add some battle damage there. After that it's off to the paint and weathering stage.11
