That looks great! 👍👍👍
Very convincing fading/weathering/wash effects. Makes me want one in 1/72 🙂

Thanks to all for your nice comments...I appreciate them all.

Regarding the Xuntong Tu-2T kit, it is a very nice kit, once some work is done to improve it. First, the fabric surfaces (especially the elevators and rudders) are exaggerated, having too much "dip" between the ribs. I fixed this using Tamiya putty to smooth things out a bit. Next, care must be taken building the interior areas; lots of little detail parts, especially with the guns and gun mounts...patience here will be rewarded later. Also, as mentioned earlier, the engines and nacelles have a lot more pieces than needed, and construction of these is challenging. The nacelles completely enclose the engines, unless the cowl doors are posed open; Xuntong gave the option of having open cowl doors, but construction is still fiddly and care must be taken to keep things "square". The clear parts fit very nicely and there is enough definition in the raised framing so that masking is made easy. The kit decals are excellent and go on perfectly with no setting solution...I wish all decals were as good as these!

Overall, Xuntong's first offering is a very good one. I highly recommend the Tu-2T to all devotees of old Soviet-era aircraft.

Album info

This is the Xuntong Tupolev Tu-2T in 1/48th. The kit builds into a pretty nice replica, but the kit is over-engineered, having way too many pieces in the engine and cowl areas. Most of the engine will not be seen once the cowls are in place, even if the cowl doors are fixed open.
