Great to see this comparison, thanks for that 👍🏻
I have the dragon kit in my stash, which was criticized for having faults if I recall correctly.
Following this 👀

Very interesting! I think nothing will come close to the one from Special Hobby.
I've built two of these and they went smooth. Nice details.
But who knows…I didn't check out the other kits in detail.
We will see here 🙂
23 February 2023, 13:18

The SH kit is the newest tooling, and most their (newest) kits are really nice 👍🏻
23 February 2023, 13:36

Thank you and welcome, gentlemen! I will try to remember to list all the faults the kits have in some point. This far it seems that the SH kit is the best in detail and shape, but this is partly because other kits are older and had bad references.
23 February 2023, 15:57

Interesting...
I recently scrapped the Dragon kit and bought the Special Hobby one. I hope i got it right.
23 February 2023, 21:24

All 4 AZ models? How many kits are you making? I thought you were doing 7 different kits at the same time. So I'm confused. Are you doing 4AZ kits and 6 other kits as well?
24 February 2023, 10:44

Thanks for this work 🙂
I would just say that Salamander is not the name of the He 162 : it's Spatz, like on the Special Hobby boxart. Salamander is the name of the manufactury construction operation to build the Volksjäger and Volksjäger is the aircraft program that the Spatz won. Very simple indeed when you know it ^_^
24 February 2023, 14:43

@Skywalker yes I'm going to build all 7 different kits and also 3 other AZ kits (as variants A-9, C and D) so total of 10 models.
24 February 2023, 16:21

Welcome aboard, mates! 🙂 I finally got to start the Dragon's and the SH kit's cockpit and other interior parts. This far it seems that HobbyBoss, Planet Models and AZ Model have copied partly the Dragon kit.
26 February 2023, 20:44

I have been very busy lately, but atleast one milestone milestone achieved as all models are at this state with (almost) completed cockpits and fuselages.
26 March 2023, 20:43

Reminds this famous photo from underground factory... 😉 That's quite a challenge not to mix the respective parts, I suppose.
27 March 2023, 05:29

S M, I couldn't resit anymore, I bought a He 162 yesterday. Thanks for that. I went for the Special Hobby one, is it a good option? I know I should have waited a bit more, but I couldn't.
27 March 2023, 13:41

Thanks, mates!
@podkon that photo from Seegrotte was my inspiration ;D
@Carlos Good choise! This far I could say that Special Hobby kit is the best. Not much details need to be added.
27 March 2023, 14:42

Super interesting to see, definitely followed!
Makes me want to do something similar with a different Aircraft haha
4 April 2023, 23:01

Thanks, Nils! 😄 I got this idea originally from another modeler who built simultaneously five different 1/72 Bf-109s kits.
5 April 2023, 08:45

Great idea to use different kits of the same plane, following with interest.
5 April 2023, 14:29

At last some new pictures. I have been very busy lately, but now I had some time to airbrush HobbyBoss model.
19 May 2023, 19:53

Thanks, Fritz and Sergej! Well my mig paints are almost two years old so some of the pigments are stuck in the bottle.
12 June 2023, 04:43

I've been looking at your project since the start. That's a lot of work so far and it's looking really good!
17 June 2023, 21:11

Thanks, Marius! This really is a lot of work and lately I haven't had enough free time to work with this. Fortunately it is mainly just painting and decals left for the models (except this Dragon's engine and landing gears...)
17 June 2023, 21:21

After a long pause finally some progress images! I got the HobbyBoss Volksjäger ready! Only one workday left and then my vacation starts!
6 July 2023, 17:20

Thanks mates! Monster project is progressing as Lindberg Volksjäger is ready!
15 July 2023, 09:19

Those rivets look awful, I guess it was acceptable in the 60ies 🙂
Still nice to see one this old being built, it turned out great 👍🏻
15 July 2023, 09:47

I agree with the rivets. I didn't bother to remove them all neither fix some that got removed when sanding seam lines.
15 July 2023, 15:57

I actually like the fact you didn't remove the rivets, gives it that vintage look 🙂
15 July 2023, 17:54

I agree with Jan.
Plus it shows you the "raw" kit, since you're building to compare them.
So no enhancement. 😎
15 July 2023, 18:04

Revell/FROG's Volksjäger is now finished. Similar treatment as with Lindberg's one.
7 August 2023, 11:49

Thanks, Lukasz! It was indeed inspired by Schwalbe (atleast the color of the putty) and by late He 162s like W.Nr. 120231 "White 6" that was hurriedly assembled.
28 August 2023, 15:34

White 6 is one on my to do list, 🙂
Great job again, I'm looking forward to more 😀
28 August 2023, 16:51

Thanks! "Papagei Staffel" was new interesting information for me 😄
29 August 2023, 20:58

Planet Models' A-8 Volksjäger is completed! It was so tail heavy that I had to glue it onto a pad. Now half of the He 162s are completed!
10 September 2023, 09:02

Now all AZ model's Volksjägers (A-2, A-9, C and D) are completed! Only two kits left.
24 September 2023, 12:13

Gentlemen! I declare my Salamander project is finished. I completed my last SH and Dragon kits today. Better photos will come during weekend.
3 November 2023, 20:57

Great job! I admire your perseverance too 🙂 (There is some funny effect on the open part of the canopy on photo #228 😄 )
3 November 2023, 22:01

Thanks, Podkon! (Afterwards I'm wondering if I should had taken vacuformed canopy from Planet Models kit to get Nervenklau extra pretty...)
4 November 2023, 22:31

Ugh, now it's really hard to say which one is nicer 😄 Impressive collection 👍
7 November 2023, 14:43

Great collection! Working on so many kits must have been quite exhausting.
22 January 2024, 14:11

Thank you all! It took about 9 months and the most boring thing was making the landing gears, but otherwise it was fun. I even got some new what-if ideas that I hope to get build soon.
22 January 2024, 18:04

Congratulations mate for the perseverence, endurance and great collection! I like the "red 1" the most.
