What did you use for the flight deck surface?

In this case, 80 grit sandpaper. I glue the sandpaper on 3/4" plywood as a base. I use heavy duty contact cement to attach it to the plywood. You can airbrush whatever color you want right onto the sandpaper without having to prep it. I masked off for landing/takeoff lines with blue painters tape and airbrushed white and Yellow. It is a very durable surface. On the F/A-18 in my album above, I punched holes in the sandpaper for photo etch tie downs. You can cut it into squares to make whatever size Tarmac you need to fit the scale your building. The bigger the model, the more coarse the grit of sandpaper you use. The C-17A that I built is 1/144 scale. I used 220 grit sandpaper for that. Hope this helps
