Oh, count me in! I love the look of this aircraft, especially when viewed from the front 3/4 angle. I have heard this kit is really nice, and look forward to building it myself some day.
You are off to a nice start, and I look forward to seeing what you make of it!

Man you are doing a nice job! One of my favorite aircraft too! Following.

Thanks William and Erik, I am a slow builder because of my busy job. This Rafale is a kit that I will try out new techniques. I'll try colorful and complicated pre-shading techniques, I will soon post a number of photos of this.

Worked on my Rafale today as well, spraying the fuselage with primer in the coming days ...
24 December 2018, 16:52

Oh I'm loving the pre-shading, and since I have one of these I'm very interested on the progress.
27 December 2018, 23:28

Ready with the post-shading and I have just given this bird a nice glossy layer with Future / Pledge ...! Starting tomorrow with the first decals and some air-brushing on the fuselage....

Great work! A 1/72 Rafale is my next project. Looking foward to see your final result!

The pre-shading worked well, but I just applied a layer too much of the final color. I have tried to remedy that with post shading. I am happy to work with multiple colors in the pre-shading phase ... that gives a cool effect.

When all decals have been applied, he gets a glossy layer again and then finishes the weathering with a wash.

I saw that you aplied some putty in it. Did you have much trouble with fitting? I`ve already made some test fittings and it looks like the main fuselage part are not that good =(
9 January 2019, 14:25

That's right Augusto, the top half on the bottom half of the fuselage does not fit really well, especially in the cockpit part. Here you really have to put some putty and very nice sanding not to lose too many panel lines and details. There is also a seam on the underside of the fuselage at the attachment of the wings ... but this is easily remedied with some putty.
The air intakes also do not fit well, here it is wise to first dry fit and here and there some sanding to make it suitable.

Finally had time to work on my Rafale M ... update: several layers of A.MIG 206 and diluted 206 layers, then the lacquer layer with future, decals applied, again a lacquer layer to shield the decals, a wash applied with the oil paint of Abteilung502. I now put the finishing touches on the canopy and some details ... happy!

Great work Jos. Colors look fantastic and it's a big weapon load under the wings and fuselage. That will be an idea for my 1/72 Rafale M waiting in the stash.

Thx Ferry, appreciate your comment...this plane looks great when fully loaded!
9 February 2019, 11:37

Thx Michael, next week I will post the finished display pics!
9 February 2019, 17:05

Those missiles, specially the Magics, are aftermarket? I am curious about the clear radomes...
9 February 2019, 22:38

@Hans...I know a well-known song that also goes something like this: "I still haven't found what I'm looking for..." 😉....by the way, thx Hans for your compliment!
@Augusto...The complete weapon load is built straight out of the box ... I have the clear part point of the Magic missile (the radome) shielded with a liquid mask.
10 February 2019, 19:55

Finally, after a long delay, I have finished this pride of the French navy. Enjoy the display photos ... I am certainly very satisfied with it!
12 February 2019, 19:28

Great result Jos! The only thing I would change are the Magic missiles, I think they are long gone from the French inventory.
12 February 2019, 21:04

Great looking Rafale! I hope mine comes even close to this one. 🙂
12 February 2019, 21:15

Thx guys, appreciate your comments...
@Maciej ... yes well ... however I am satisfied with the result and I think these Magic missiles look brutal, that it is not completely conform ... that is the beauty of modeling, use your imagination ... 😉
13 February 2019, 09:05

Q: What color of wash was used for the panel lines?
I read 'Abteilung502' above but I guess that is just the brand name and not being indicative of the color of the oil paint.
13 February 2019, 10:20

Treehugger...... I used the type below. I make the wash by mixing the oil paint with Enamel Odourless Thinner from Ammo Mig Jimenez.
ABT110 Black, Abteilung 502 Matt, Oil, 20ml
13 February 2019, 19:37

Thank Ronny...hard work pays off, by applying new techniques to me I improve my skills with each model. 🙂
13 February 2019, 19:50

Thanks Konrad, Calvin, James, Erik, Michael, Peter and Soren...your appreciative words are a nice reward for the end result...! 🙂 👍
14 February 2019, 11:41

That really turned out fantastic Jos!!! The Rafale is really a beautiful aircraft, and you have done her real justice.
14 February 2019, 14:55

fabulous, but error kit revell = pitot up left is not serial aicraft , but only demonstrator
14 February 2019, 16:48

for news , magic II is not used , only mica IR and EM now
14 February 2019, 16:49

Thanks Michael, I also think she is a beauty ... beautiful lines, a powerful appearance.
14 February 2019, 18:03

Yes well Laurent, maybe you're right, but I've seen them equipped with Magic II ... see photo. Nevertheless, these missiles do not detract from the appearance of this beautiful airplane ... I am pleased how this Rafale is presented now.

Thank you guys, it's been already awhile ago that I finished this model. This Revell kit is definitely a little gem among the average not so best molded Revell kits. Glad you liked it...👍
