Thanks guys! It's a nice little kit from Five Star - I'm just about done with it, just need to rig and put her in a waterline diorama. I'm hoping to wrap things up in the next month or so.

Five Star's detail sets are fantastic, and I've really enjoyed their full kits with resin hulls. Instructions could be a little more detailed on some kits, but otherwise they are great. The resin hulls in particular are well shaped with lots of details.

Yes. Sometimes some parts like small boats are missing. But you get some really unusual kits. I will use the detail set for Etorofu kit from Pitroad

Yes, I've noticed that too. I've had to buy random things like guns, planes, etc. to supplement their resin kits. It was disappointing to get the kit, open the instructions, and see "purchase separately" for some of the items. I learned to go to the Five Star website to pull the instructions in advance of buying their kits.

Of course. But I have so many detail sets from 5starmodel and rainbow. So that's no problem any more. You can see it on my Hayasui model

I can't believe how small that is. How do you do such detailed, intricate work so accurately? It is lovely.

Christian - I like your Hayasui - I have it in the stash too.
Jennifer, thank you for your kind words. For this kind of detailed work, I use an Optivisor and very fine tweezers (mine are from Dumont which are used in scientific applications). I apply CA glue using the tip of a fine pin. Also, good lighting helps.

Thanks for the insight, I've ordered a fine tweezer by Dumont. They are very nice.

I use two different types - one that closes regularly, and one that is reverse action so you have to squeeze the handle to open the jaws. The latter I rarely use, but it comes in very handy when I need it.

Thank you! I have to use an Optivisor and very fine tweezers - good tools are a must!
