Finaly, paint. I used different primers for the hull (Vallejo) and the superstructure (Tamiya) for ease of the furter painting. This is temporary on hold until I get hold of a new bottle of Hull Red.

while I searched for Hull Red which is in the Vallejo Model collor range, I notised it's not in the Model Air range. There is Fire red and Anti Fouling Red, which is more of a faded red, no idea which one to choose.

While I was comparing my reference material I noticed that there was something wrong with the main mast. I started studying it and finally discovered where the last PE bits belong. A little more explanation with the PE set would have been useful.

Fortunatly the ladders from the kit came off easily. They were replaced by a centrally placed PE ladder. The brackets, against which the fall bar ladders will rest, I made myself from a leftover piece of PE railing.

Well doesn't time fly. It's been months since I gave you guy's an update on my Jean Bart. I have been working on her, but only in short sessions. This gave me the impression that I was getting nowhere with this one. Then came along the Plastic & Steel show where I had the opportunity to work on her for two full days, and lo and behold she is close to getting finished. Just adding the last details know, than some weathering, clear coat and windows and clear parts and done.
Hopefully next update very soon…

Yes, I'm finaly back at this one, took me long enough. Painting and weathering are al done, next step will be a matt coat and than windows, rigging and final details.
I can almost see the finnish flag, well actualy the Frensh one in this case.

Album info

First time I post a work in progress album. This old kit from Heller gets an update with the photo-etsh set from Naval Models. This set contains the necessary railings and stairs together with some parts for the radar and antenna. I build the rest of the details from scratch. Construction began about two months ago, after assembling the basic elements (hull, deckhouse, chimney and masts) began detailing using photos of the original.
