Was the funky blue-green color used beyond the cockpit? They Russian and East German Hinds I stumbled around on the inside were all grey in the troop compartment. Not sure at all about other air forces colors though.
27 May 2012, 18:43

Its base coat.... Internal in troop compartment of sri lanken hinds is grey.. they are ex-ukrainian stock so internal colours will be same
27 May 2012, 18:50

I like the colourtone itself! But idont have a hell of an idea about the colour of the troop campartments...
27 May 2012, 19:04

well still work in progress.. both it and the cockpit..
Have to get internal pics done too.. as cabin is looking good.. least i think so lol
3 June 2012, 12:41

thanks willy 🙂 its coming out well.. I'm very pleased even after the repaints
3 June 2012, 15:03

Hey Guido, thanks bud it's come out nicely.. some more work todo but happy so far.. black is far nicer... i tried dark grey then dry brushing the black on... gives nice weathering effect i think
4 June 2012, 09:58

New updates loaded.... and yes.... its starting to look like a cow...
6 June 2012, 18:28

Why do i think about steak´s? No just kidding, it looks promising, so far!
6 June 2012, 18:34

16 June 2012, 07:25

16 June 2012, 16:58

Very good ,Augie.
But i wonder how you can all do this on your Chaos looking workbench!🙂
16 June 2012, 18:08

🙂 that would be a secret... only shared by me and my bench... naw i have a second part on my left which i use mainly.. the part you see is the old one with ashtray..spots of paint and general caos that is me..
16 June 2012, 18:27

16 June 2012, 18:35

Search on your bench. Maybe there a hidden some of them...somewhere in the deep. They haven´t seen the light of day for several years. 🙂
16 June 2012, 18:57

Ha Burhard.. This girl doesnt drink.... But a can of cola is usually on the messy bench
16 June 2012, 20:18

Yeah, I dont mind the occasional burger an fries... much prefer some bread and cheese tho..
16 June 2012, 20:24

The figure is one thing but it's more important to avoid the junk food for health reasons.
16 June 2012, 22:03

By the way, there should be something to hold on to durin' a thunderstorm...
16 June 2012, 22:04

Don't you know that real men are into curves as only dogs play with bones...
16 June 2012, 22:18

Ha.. its ok Urban, I'm not a bean pole.. I have curves..hence the number of t-shirts i have now with paint on 🤔
16 June 2012, 22:26

*giggles* naw.. just usual thing for a girl.. sometimes they get in the way... ;@)
16 June 2012, 22:47

I know that. My partner is a D so I'm familiar with that problem but that's not a problem for me. Anyway, the most beautiful breasts is the ones that is on the woman a man loves.
16 June 2012, 22:54

The ruskie`s hinds are coming...................take cover!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
19 June 2012, 16:13

I remember building that kit eons ago, quite a nice model if I remember correctly.
Love the Russian stuff !
21 June 2012, 20:26

Its a really nice kit.... so nice i bought a second one.. and am on the look out for more 🙂
21 June 2012, 21:22

So here it is, heading to the end... she's ready for weathering.. then sealing and then last few bits..
24 June 2012, 19:18

thanks Guss, i think the biggest thing for me is how different it looks from most others i have seem
24 June 2012, 20:30

Looking very nice, Augie! I like the different scheme, when I built this kit oh so many years ago, I think I had a choice of one scheme to choose from. It's a ncie kit from what I remember, and you're doing it proud! 🙂
24 June 2012, 21:02

Its a very nice kit... i have one more in the stash.. and another on order...
along with some bush hind decals.. not that i like this kit at all😉
24 June 2012, 21:05

There's something about Soviet helicopters. Maybe it's because they look so menacingly functional, if you know what I mean.
24 June 2012, 21:48

yeah.. i think i do..most russian kit seems to have this design philosophy..
24 June 2012, 21:53

Russian helicopters... I still have in mind how much we tanksoldiers feared and hated the Hind and I'm happy that I never had to look at one, when I still was in service.
Now as a modeller I'm looking forward to build it... once I know where I have the space for rotors 50cm in diameter.
Augie: Really good job so far! Not to forget that it is brush-painted. The only air Augie using is for breathing, right?
24 June 2012, 22:20

hey frank, yeah its all brush painted 🙂 I can imagine how tankers, would look at that and be afraid.. I imagine it was the same on their side with Apache
24 June 2012, 22:37

Ahh yes, the hawg... Too used to them from Alconbury days.. I wonder if the Su-25 compares well?
24 June 2012, 22:41

I wouldn't want to meet a Frogfoot in a dark alley either. Maybe making the aircraft appear menacing is to psych you out, kind of like sirens on Stukas...
24 June 2012, 22:49

A-10? Oooh, I remember Reforger in 1981. The A-10 were on the red side, we on the blue.
All we could do was to stick the yellow flagg o the turret and take a break..., because they got us... Was good to know that in real exercise they would have been on our side... 🙂
24 June 2012, 22:55

Congrats on the completion of another Russian beast Augie! Looks menacing and dificult to believe this is all hand-brushed.
Looks like you need a new shelf as well UR running out of landing platform 🙂
25 June 2012, 15:57

Great "bend" in the rotorblades! Some people are wizard´s with a brush!🙂 Looks great!
25 June 2012, 17:14

Hehe thanks guys, not quite finished yet... weathering to come..
Holger, the bend is just the manual finger and thumb bends..
25 June 2012, 18:17

Hi Augie,
what a huge modell!!!!
Wish you a steady hand and full power akku for the next steps!
Well done so far...
Greetz
Dirk
25 June 2012, 18:24

Well, likes ships, they are all She's.... for bing complicated and tempermental😢
25 June 2012, 18:29

oh with out doubt... i'm just waiting for someone to say like me lol
25 June 2012, 18:31

Hi Augie
Great to see it ( she) finished.Looks very good. But is it right that there are no decals on it?Maybe i am wrong.
25 June 2012, 21:29

Hi Markus, She's not finished... still needs weathering.. Looking at all documentation i've found for the Sri Lanken Hinds the only markings they carry are Serial Numbers on tail.. which i am awaiting delivery for 🙂
25 June 2012, 21:38

Hi Augie
That is not much Decals.Looking forward to see the weathering.
26 June 2012, 06:39

Thanks Markus, I only hope i can do it justice.. after your perishing I think i have my work cutout..
26 June 2012, 17:39

I know you will do this job,Augie .I believe in you! 🙂
26 June 2012, 18:12

Wow Weathering marathon... base wash on, and now being cleaned up..
ready for fading
30 June 2012, 21:51

Looking forward to after you cleaned it.I am always afraid to put a wash over the whole model.I always add pin washes even at the panel lines.I am afraid it will be to dark and i cant get all wash off.
1 July 2012, 08:29

Yeah! Markus I understand that completely, always worried I'm going to ruin an expensive kit and Decals, do you use an ordinary brush or an airbrush for your washes? I find I have more control with an airbrush!!!...
1 July 2012, 08:58

Well Gents. Update on the weathering..
She's cleaned off, and fading has been added to the black all brush and cotton swab work..
1 July 2012, 09:04

Hi Steve
I apply filter and washes with a brush.I like to have as much control as possible 🙂
1 July 2012, 09:04

I can imagine to put a filter with the airbrush on.But the washes i better put on with the brush.
1 July 2012, 09:10

That's a fine build sor far Augie look forward to the final outcome... Ialways find I use to much wash with a brush Markus, a friend I know uses cotton wool!!!
1 July 2012, 09:12

What aren't you sure about? in that last pic it seems (from here) just enough has been done... Guess I'm saying looks great to me!!!...
1 July 2012, 09:20

😄 thanks Steve, in that case i'm happy... I'm allways overcritical of my own work
1 July 2012, 09:23

Yeah!!! I know what you mean, I've had 50 years + at it and I'm still practicing. Learning everyday me!!! It's why I like places like this, I see so many different applications, too ones I thought were tried, tested and accepted...
1 July 2012, 09:29

Yep!!! agree with you there Markus, the right attitude, as long as there's some body to re-assure you...
1 July 2012, 09:33

Steve, thats right.Otherwise it can turn into frustration,if you are to self critical.
1 July 2012, 09:38

Thanks Guys.. I'm gonna start getting her together and see what it looks like.. But... looking like she may be finished
