North American FJ-4 Fury

 

So first of all I removed the drip fairing behind the front landing gear compartment, and the additional aerodynamic brakes added in the Bravo version 

Next I fitted the air intake.... 

....And the exhaust. In both cases, after gluing, putty will be required, but it is already better than it was 

Finally, I drilled holes for the gun barrels with a 0.8mm drill bit and sprayed them with green One Shot Primer, because this crappy white plastic is hard to photograph, and such a surface will help to rescribe the panel lines, which lmore or less match to the original 

I'm not a scratch master, but something came out with the help of Extratech plates and Pavla resin. It's not a faithfully recreated cockpit, but it still looks better than what Emhar predicted

I painted the cockpit (I forgot to take a picture) and closed the fuselage. Pavla's seat is too high, which makes it impossible to mount the original canopy. This explains the strange profile of the Pavli fairing, which I am currently waiting for.

I also added tunnels for the machine gun barrels, made from a 0.7mm injection needle, 

and glued the rest of the parts to the fuselage, filled and sanded 

I started on the wings. After gluing the halves together and filling them with Dissolved Putty, I started filling the space where the wing folding mechanism is. It turned out somehow, not bad, not terrible 

Then I removed the old dividing lines and in their place, in accordance with the original, I applied a grid of rivets, because in this Fury model, the wings are covered with one piece of sheet metal. 

I haven't had much time for gluing lately, and somehow I've run out of mojo for this kit. I sit down and put something I like away. I think I'm tired of artifacts appearing after another layer of primer....



Anyway, I added position lights to the wingtips. This is the first time I've attempted something like this and I'm happy with it for now. I think it will become a permanent element of the game.
