Thank you Spanjaard! The colour wasn't listed in the instructions but I remember this colour and a similar shade but in blue.

Peter, you might be pleased to hear, that you have become an inspiration for my wife?
She's just bought this kit today, to help her improve her glossing and clear coating? It was £20 from the model show, so no big deal. Anyway, she's using this album, as a guide. From both of us, that's a great paint job, and thanks for displaying it 👍

Aww come on Boz! Now I am all embarrassed! Hope she enjoys building it as much as I did. Martin enjoyed this kit as well!

Guido, thanks for the rating! I am pretty happy with the result!

Peter, I was just wondering if you had a workaround for that rear boot lid, to close up the gap?
21 January, 12:40

Well, Martin suggested I lower the hinge. Don't you think Blu Tac is wonderful stuff? It holds the rear boot lid as high as it will go! Shhhhh, don't tell anyone! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Really nice. You know, what, it was my dad's first car, so it brings back some nice memories

Thanks Lode! It's funny but a Lamborghini looks nice but means nothing to most of us. But a Beetle? We all have a Beetle story! I learned to drive in a beetle about the same vintage and the same colour. Hope the memories were all wonderful!
CaptGPF. We all know Beetles so well! Thanks for the encouragement!

I Dub, thank you! I am planning to live to 200 and give that Alex G a run for his money!

Mark W, I am quite pleased with the result! Thanks for stopping by!

Album info
My sister taught me to drive around Toowong Cemetery in Brisbane Australia about 1974. The area had around 15 kilometres of paved roadway but poorly maintained. This is about the vintage and colour of the Beetle involved. The name of the project is a tip of the hat towards a song named “Alexander Beetle” which was a song about a small child who had captured a small beetle and it contained in a matchbox but Nanny, the child’s grandmother had been looking for a match and, well, Alexander escaped. The song continues on about the grandmother being apologetic and helped the child ‘find Alexander’ again. Wonderful song from another era.
