Cockpit and Panel progress.. somemore to do here, this is just base coat.. glosses instruments.. and a single drybrush
30 August 2012, 17:35

@Augie: You really do love challenges! My respect! The cockpit looks great already. It'll fun watching your progress!
31 August 2012, 21:41

Thanks Frank... I gotta be crasy to try it.. but hey.. at least it will be unique
31 August 2012, 21:44

It'll be a tough job, but think about the feeling after it's done!
My StuG III wasn't that difficult, because I didn't had to draw accurate lines, but spot for spot took time and seemed to be a never ending story, but after the lost spot was set I felt great!

I´m exited about our weather, it turned from dark grey to bright shine! I hear the beach yell my name;)
1 September 2012, 09:24

LLO, least you get a choice.. weather here isnt that great so will be indoors working on the mig and ordering cockpit for the F-5
1 September 2012, 09:42

So you have the pain to make a decision if you want the cockpit from Aires, Quickboost, Black Box, Verlinden...;)
1 September 2012, 09:49

Lol yeah..but oddly only one i have found that i can get hold of.. is the Aires AIRE4483 which is designed for the AFV Kit... so will be an interesting battle to get it into a Monogram Fues
1 September 2012, 09:53

Yeah, if i had to do that, i would turn into a grind-rush! So to say a "battle of glue" between 3 enemy´s: The plastic, the resin and me... 😉 I hope you dont need too much putty etc.!
1 September 2012, 09:59

What's the width of 'em now? Half that width should be perfect. Possibly smaller wire as well.
1 September 2012, 16:59

OK second attempt posted.. 1mm tape for straps. Urban.. whatcha think?
1 September 2012, 20:08

yeah.. i think your right.. its just making them smaller.. i have trouble with them that small
1 September 2012, 20:57

Augie are you sure you wanna do the chinese scheme? It looks very heavy to do! But it will certainly look very cool if finished!!!
2 September 2012, 11:26

🙂 you know me holly.... never one to backdown from a challenge.. if i can do that by hand and brush.. then i'm sure frank can do that chinook scheme 😉
2 September 2012, 12:06

Thanks gents.. I had to take a breat=k.. was going crosseyed painting them
12 September 2012, 18:48

Augie, blessed are the sick! In this case you are in advance with your brushpainting! It would become a masking-battle to spray that great camo!;) Admirale work!
12 September 2012, 19:12

thanks guys 🙂 still more to do but was having issues.. it nees some tidying as some stripes is some are wonky
12 September 2012, 19:23

The Tiger of Cambs! 🙂
Well done and of course someway psychedelic!
Is it a MiG 15 LSD ??
Looks great, Augie.
12 September 2012, 21:08

Augie, you do like challenges! That is very good, it means you are getting better all the time.
12 September 2012, 21:18

lol thanks guys.. i do try.. not bad considering its all brush painted
12 September 2012, 21:21

I wish you had a video showing your paintbrushing technique - what do you think ?
12 September 2012, 21:23

i'll think about it aghis 🙂 not sure i could teach anything.. its just using the right brush
12 September 2012, 21:28

OK stripes done, and clean up started... and i cant see straight now..
12 September 2012, 22:13

Chinook? Chinook? There was something about that... 😉
Marvelous job, Augie! How long did it take you? And how many nerves? Need to know to calculate required wire (to replace the nerves), when I start the Chinook... 😉
13 September 2012, 15:23

Lol yes Sherif, i was seeing double at the end
Frank... i wish it was finished.. still a lot of cleaning up todo.. and i have a feeling the tail section needs repainting from scratch as the stripes went funny....
Nerves are holding up fine... its the eyesight 😉
13 September 2012, 22:39

Ok, a update..
Stripes are done.. and clean up is done..
will get some piccies up tomorrow night
20 September 2012, 21:30

Well. its been a long time since i painted a figure to go with a kit.. so thought it would be fun to try with the MiG's figure..
3 Pics posted
23 September 2012, 18:11

Heavy work, I think on the plane... Nothing for me😉 But very interesting.
23 September 2012, 18:46

Yes ,Mike .The stripes on the plane are very work intensive .Steady Hand.
Very well done Augie.
23 September 2012, 18:50

Nice work on the pilot figure so far. Little drybrushing would him make perfect. Like this one !🙂
23 September 2012, 19:01

Hm, very interesting scheme Augie, very well executed! And that pilot figure looks really Chinese to me, skin tone is funny and it even has slit eyes!
I'm curious to see the finished model 🙂
I think your eyes need a rest now after this demanding scheme, how about that "easy-for-the-eyes" pink Op Petticoat PBY ?
23 September 2012, 19:46

LOL willy... Tell ya what... If i can get hold of a 1:72 PBY.. then i will just for you with wing fold
and yes... i suspect i may be crazy saying that
23 September 2012, 19:49

Oh, Augie! Where are you getting into...? Pink PBY wing fold... 🙂
Agree with Wilfried - the pilot fits absolutely to a Chinese airplane. Seems you're not only good on demanding camouflage schemes, but also on figures. The pilot looks promising. Lookingvforward to the final result.
23 September 2012, 19:57

Ha!ha!ha! I see what you mean by Chinese. 1 spring roll please with egg foo yung!!!
23 September 2012, 19:59

@ Frank: Yeah I wonder too what i have just said 🙂... The pilot is comming on well.. I have a few issues to deal with on it.. but will get a current pic up 🙂
@ Steve: thanks Steve 🙂
23 September 2012, 20:02

I dunno about pink PBY's, but this chinese figure is good! 🙂
24 September 2012, 16:20

and some more on the pilot.. just detailing and getting used to working through magnafying glass
25 September 2012, 22:57

Just catching up here, I love the camouflage! (And I think a pink PBY is a great idea) I also agree that the figure does look Asian. The old craftsmen at Monogram did their homework.
But Augie, please, stop smoking! I'm a cancer survivor so I can play Big Brother here - please stop! 🙂
26 September 2012, 00:23

Hey Guys..
No work today on it.. eyes are fuzzy
thanks kim and bill... and yes bill.. not many i will allow to big brother, but i do understand.. hence cutting down on the road to quitting
26 September 2012, 21:28

The only backdraft I've ever felt was the one at Universal Studios. It's an attraction designed around the movie. It's pretty intense, with fireballs exploding all around you. You can really feel the heat.
27 September 2012, 14:45

Yeah Bill, the backdraft was quite hot. The explosions of "Jaws" came also quite good and depending, on which side of the boat you were sitting, were also extremely hot...
27 September 2012, 16:39

I hope you're not talking like Yoda...
I like the pilots, but I don't like guys...
30 September 2012, 17:37

Looks fine so far. Try a little blending on the camo. Will look a little bit smooser. By the way, great pilot! Like him very much. 🙂
7 October 2012, 18:46

Hi Augie,
a really dangerous North Corean Tiger! LOL
As I said before, it`s a LSD Camo!
Well done!

Dirk
7 October 2012, 20:48

No way Augie, added your picture to my favourites. 😉
I need it to cool down my eyes.
7 October 2012, 20:57

@ Acki : thank you.. i am now blushing bright red 🙂
@Dirk: Yeah my eyes felt like that after i had painted it
@willy: Thanks Willy.. 🙂
7 October 2012, 21:09

Well for someone who can't knit you did a good job of that for sure!!!
7 October 2012, 21:22

looks fantastic Augie. By the way, my wife is coming to the UK at the end of Nov. so let me know if you need anything else. Fantastic kit.......................
