Building the Revell Sea Vixen FAW.2
1
March 15, 2025The inventory. Apart from the Eduard interior PE, I got an Airwaves exterior set, and masks by DEAD design.2
March 15, 2025This kit needs quite some weight, I chose to add more than the required 25 grams to be sure.3
March 15, 2025The Airwaves set was new to me designwise, in the end I could only use the part for the airbrake bay and part of the airbrake interior, as it was designed for the FROG kit. My bad.4
March 15, 2025I filled the nose with lead and poured CA glue over it for good measure.5
March 15, 2025Quite some parallel subassemblies.6
March 15, 2025Adding the intakes.7
March 15, 2025The DEAD design masks worked virtually as well as Eduard´s normally do in my hands.8
March 15, 2025There was even a bit of space for more weight in front of the cockpit, I made use of it.9
March 15, 2025Gluing the fuselage halves, not without some pressure.10
March 15, 2025The masks worked well on the canopies.11
March 15, 2025There was still some gap on the front fuselage.12
March 15, 2025I masked off the exhausts with home-punched circles.13
March 15, 2025I liked the look of the rocket pods.14
March 15, 2025Masking the wheelwells with pieces of sponge.15
March 15, 2025The canopies after de-masking. It worked.16
March 15, 2025This model could benefit from some preshading, especially the belly.17
March 15, 2025The wheel masks worked well.18
March 15, 2025Ready for decaling.19
March 15, 2025I did not feel comfortable working with the decals, as they were very prone to silvering despite giving the model a good gloss coat prior to their application. A side of one of the red warning boxes tore off, to make things more interesting.20
March 15, 2025Luckily I still had these dry transfers. I cut a piece of the appropriate width to size ...21
March 15, 2025And taped it to the model, then - with bated breath - applied pressure with a pencil22
March 15, 2025It worked. Sighhh ...23
March 15, 2025I applied all the decals to the underside.24
March 15, 2025And prepared the wing sections completely before gluing them, very carefully.25
March 15, 2025The canopies were attached with PVA glue.26
March 15, 2025I made a simple presentation base and a transport jig, as I wouldn´t want the landing gear to take all that weight during a car ride.

That was a nice and tidy build, I like your detailed description too! The red dry transfer piping was a great save!
