It was at this point I realised I had f**ked up... Having resisted the use of oils for weathering, I'd applied a sludge wash using Tamiya alcohol-based acrylic paints that was refusing to mobilise with X-20A thinner. Applying more force to the overwash started to mobilise the underlying paint. I have discussed with learned modelers who suspect the TS-13 Clear Coat had softened the underlying airbrush work, weakening its foundation meaning the subsequent cleanup of the sludge wash was impossible. Having already applied the decals I was forced to abandon an airbrushed finish for this model and go back to manual brushwork...
