just the start... having to order replacement seat tho as it seems to be missing
10 November 2013, 10:58

I've got the other Seafire by airfix in the stash so looking forward to seeing this finished
10 November 2013, 11:52

Sure Adam,
I'm using humbrol enamel's mainly.
some oils and terps for washes.
10 November 2013, 15:30

Cool, I only ask cos I'm using mainly Humbrol acrylics on all mine (cos I'm a bit of a beginner) and am just wondering whether switching to enamel would be worth it?
10 November 2013, 19:48

Truth be told Adam, you can paint as well with acrylic as emamel.
I've always used emamel so its what i've sayed with.
The trick is to learn the paint and how it reacts to stimulus.. heat.. humidity different thinners.
10 November 2013, 19:53

That's great, thanks for the advice! Thirty year old man in need of painting tips! Lol
10 November 2013, 19:55

Nice one,
I'm also looking at a sea fire for my next build but am not sure yet
14 November 2013, 21:49

the airfix one is nice and simple.. and goes together with no fuss
14 November 2013, 22:06

Already???
wow!!! You are a fast modeller 😄 😄
Congratulations for the very nice result
14 November 2013, 22:21

Thanks Vitor I had to replace the seat but otherwise its OOB 🙂 Stands out nicely
14 November 2013, 22:23

LOl 😛 This one had it built in hehe.. Yes I still have to get a Catalina to do a Operation petticoat one with wingfold... I must be mad
14 November 2013, 22:30

Metinks we are all a bit mad here. In your case the enamel fumes are probably the main cause. You are lucky to be a talented brush-painter, airbrushes are even more polluting. 😉
14 November 2013, 22:35

Very nice Augie! I am also a brush painter, and I don't plan of getting an airbrush for one reason,I don't want one. lol
14 November 2013, 22:41

Thanks Brandon 🙂 and yeah exactly why I brush paint still Brandon... I dont want a airbrush lol
14 November 2013, 22:45

Speedbuildin' eh! Well, it doesn't matter as the build is excellent as usual mate!
14 November 2013, 22:51

Augie, what do you do about the gloss coat for decals? Do you brush that on to?
14 November 2013, 22:54

Thanks Guys 🙂
I'm on a week off from work so spend more time than usual hence being so quick
14 November 2013, 22:55

Thanks Michael 🙂
@ Brandon: The gloss coat for decaling is a coat of future thats brush painted on.
Big brush thin coat.. works like a dream
14 November 2013, 23:01

When you do it.. dont soak the brush.. wipe a fair bit off.. too much and it will pool..
If it does.. Some paper towel and just touch it against the pool.. it will soak it right off
14 November 2013, 23:05

Another nice job Augie! At least your gettin your stuff built! I spend too much time chasing stuff all over the world and adding to my pile.... If i was rich enough i would employ a couple of hollywood model makers to build my stuff!!! Then open a model museum yay! 🙂 Umm... Does Richard Branson read any of these blogs! 🙂
14 November 2013, 23:15

Lol Thanks Glenn,
I need to get some built I am running out of room to add to the pile😉
14 November 2013, 23:17

But they take up more room when built and you can't stack them arrrrrh.........
14 November 2013, 23:19

Kinda two edged sword that one.. damned if you do damned if you dont..
besides.. I enjoy the build as much as the collecting
14 November 2013, 23:23

May you share with us, what kind of brushes you use for your paintjobs? This one, for example, really turned out great!
15 November 2013, 08:35

Thanks Eend 🙂
Hey Holly no idea how you missed it, Other than I'm stealth building lol
As for the brushes I'm using Tamiya flat brushes mainly
15 November 2013, 09:20

Aha, with flat brushes! That explains alot!
I knew you are good in painting but the result on this Seafire is extraordinary good!
At first i thought: Ok, she switched to airbrushing!😢
15 November 2013, 09:28

Thanks Holly.. I'm still a brusher not a blower😉
Thanks Michael 🙂 i do try
15 November 2013, 10:27

Unusual to see it in...
Aircraft Carrier Mode, nicely done Augie😢
15 November 2013, 16:34

Thanks Kevin 🙂
Yes Steve unusual but i like the look.. nice and unusual 🙂
15 November 2013, 16:36

Awesome 🙂 Think i have this kit somewhere, so has given me inspiration
16 November 2013, 07:59

very nice Augie and colourful youve done a great job. I like the wing fold, really makes it look busy.
16 November 2013, 22:12

Nice SeaFire Augie, I also brush paint most of my 1/48 scale stuff, good work.
