I am going to do the RDAF RF-84F in 1/72. Just need the Decals and the Recon Wingtip Pod from Modelart
26 April 2015, 18:55

🙂 welcome Chaps..
I',m looking for pods, but might do it slightly WHIF so standard pods and the Mk 7 Bucket of instant sunshine
26 April 2015, 22:41

Thanks Micheal 🙂 fine brushes help..
lol guido 🙂 what kinda pop corn tho?
27 April 2015, 12:26

Hi Augie!
I like these early jets very much. Nice start and good luck!
21 May 2015, 19:20

Ha, no.. this one was started while awaiting high grit sand paper.. cockpit was just about done when the gnat finished
21 May 2015, 22:59

Looking very nice indeed. I was thinking of building mine after I finish my TF-104G.
22 May 2015, 17:54

Your instrument panels are just amazing. To bad I can't do them that well, would save me a small fortune in Photo-Etch. LOL.
22 May 2015, 17:57

Lol thanks Clifford.. its a case of not being afraid to use the decals.. pencils.. and very small brushes lol.
Oddly my TF-104 was what I was thinking of building next! lol
22 May 2015, 18:01

Lol maybe 🙂 tho now I might have to change my mind to make it less freaky😉
22 May 2015, 18:15

I can always do my F-86D Sabre Dog, or maybe one of my mass of WWII stuff, Like a SPIT,maybe or a 109?
22 May 2015, 18:31

I assume you are using aftermarket decals? I will be on mine. Mine will be NMF. USAF.Would like to do a Luftwaffe F-84F, but don't know of any F-84F kits.
22 May 2015, 18:40

oh one or two..

22 May 2015, 18:42

I am going to do my 1/32 in German Marine markings so decided to do the TF-104 in the Itilian AF markings. I also forgot that I have my BAE Lighting to do also. I am really having a hard time decideing which scheme to do it in.
22 May 2015, 18:49

Yes I can't decide which scheme I want to do the lighting in. It is the Airfix it.
23 May 2015, 04:26

Great stuff! The only skill i could easily compete with you is the way you also dirtyfy your enamel paint tins...great to see i am not alone! Go for "Luftwaffe", yeah Germany 🙂
23 May 2015, 17:45

So.. today I decided to start on the bucket of instant sunshine..
Have done it in my usual means for bare metal.. gilt
23 May 2015, 19:41

oh i doubt it.. this kit is reasonably new molding.. recessed lines.. nice fit..
26 May 2015, 15:25

haha, yeah it wasn't this kit but I did have a few F-84's in 1/72 though, it was just seeing it on your bench taking shape nicely it gave me a lovely little moment of nostalgia 🙂
26 May 2015, 15:32

You are making me look like a turtle Augie. LOL. I thought I was supposed to be "the speed builder" LOL.
26 May 2015, 21:53

Augie - Sorry, for a moment there, "...a quick coat of future and its on its legs...", I thought you were referring to Choppa! ('Lovely lad, fine pair of shoulders there.') Tee hee 🙂
26 May 2015, 22:40

coincidentally, it also happens to be true ...........................😉
26 May 2015, 23:29

So..
Decals starting.. and test fit of weapons.. the Mk7 test hung..and OMG.. its huge
28 May 2015, 15:44

I'm glad to see that you built the nuke first, most people build the weapons as an afterthought.
You're right, that Mk 7 is huge,,,,,so huge in fact that it is the cause of the Skyhawk's long landing gear legs.
28 May 2015, 20:07

Looks great so far!
Denmark has a Non-Nuclear Proliferation Policy, so would they ever have carried a Mk 7, and being as its a Reconaissance RF-84, would they carry any weapons...(just curious..)
28 May 2015, 21:34

Thanks Guys.
Gordon, Its a slight what-if.. so i've taken a few liberties with reality in that respect.
28 May 2015, 21:51

Almost all model jets are Whiffers if the weapons are configured as "live". So, Augie, I wouldn't sweat that too much. I know I hardly ever build with "blue stripes" on my jet's weapons,,,,,,all Yellow stripes and Red-Brown rocket motor stripes for me. I know some won't believe it,,,,,but a loaded up Sparrow with Yellow nose stripe and Red-Brown rocket stripe would have been rare in 1978,,,,,and we build them that way alllll the time.
28 May 2015, 23:53

Augie, your talents and skills are always something wonderful to see. I kid you not mate.🙂
29 May 2015, 00:04

thanks Rex, very true its rare mine are done with "blue" ones...
thanks Kerry 🙂 considering at first I didn't think much to this kit, its actually coming out much better than I expected
29 May 2015, 08:29

Looks very nice Augie. I decided to do a Mig -29 instead of the F-84.
30 May 2015, 23:50

So.. I think we're about done.. some little bits too add but its good.
decals are a bit crap but with some care an weathering.. they look alright
8 June 2015, 17:13

One of Your best builds ever! Great paint job and a very clean job as well!
8 June 2015, 17:43

nice work Augie! but I agree, that red and white look too bright at the moment, no doubt a little bit more of your magic will sort it 🙂
8 June 2015, 18:01

Thanks Mike! 🙂
Choppa.. the decals are just too bright in pics.. they are about right in rl.. flash popped them
8 June 2015, 18:44

aha I see, yeah cameras can do funny things sometimes, still looks great though and I like that you left the lid open 🙂
8 June 2015, 18:50

haha no worries, credit well earned !!
One thing though, have you flown it round the room yet whilst going -
"whhheeeooooosshhhh daka daka daka" ? 😄
8 June 2015, 18:59

You should do what Choppa said Augie. It does wonders for the soul. LOL 🙂
And again I say. Perfect in every way mate, and you make airbrushed models look lame. 🙂
8 June 2015, 19:46

Another colourful creation! Well done Augie, very nice finish.😉
9 June 2015, 18:57

Lovely build, Augie. I like the scheme. How did you do the lights in the tip tanks? Did you drill them out?
13 June 2015, 01:05

Yea, how did you do the lights? Inquring minds want to know. LOL.
13 June 2015, 01:06

Thanks Guys 🙂 one thing no one noticed.. I'd left the lights out on the wings.. this has been corrected now lol
The tip tanks were just a drop of paint on the inside of the lenses.. no drilling needed on this one.
13 June 2015, 08:23

Wow, you did an excellent job on this plane! Like the plane, the scheme and the build! Congrats!
14 June 2015, 09:08

Lol thank you Christian 🙂 glad you enjoyed
