Barrels consisted of 3 parts, a top, left and right. A lot of sanding and filling (regular Revell glue works pretty well for that)

me too 😉

last I saw a shirt with eat, sleep, rave, repeat... in this case it was sand, fill, cure, repeat... as filler I used the Revell Contacta to fill the small gaps, just add a bit, let it cure, sand it and repeat as necessary. worked fine...
