And ofc nice scratch building inside the two machine gun blisters. 🙂 I built this thing in 3D on a computer, a long time ago, I just remembered, probably lost in one of my old style mechanical harddrive crashes, like with some other projects of mine. 🙁

Thanks for the comments all!
Its not going to be white, sorry. I'm going for the PBY-5A Catalina Bu.No 2459 73-P-9 flown by Lt(jg) R.B. Hopgood of VP-73, Reykjavik, Iceland, August 1942.
@Treehugger: Too bad you lost that 3D Cat, would have loved to see that!
@Andy Ball: LOL 😄

To those of us who grew up with Airfix, Catalinas were always white! (The Revell 'Black Cat' came as quite a shock when first released). Please treat this 'old soldier' with the care it deserves (but it looks like you already are - some really great scratch-building). 👍😉

I think I had this box when I was in secondary school, around 1980...
Never finished it then, but stayed fascinated with Catalinas (they ARE white!) since. Especially because it was Jacques Cousteau's plane too.
I'm in the port-side bubble, following.

Didn't know that about Jacques Cousteau! Great to have you on board!😉

Jacques Cousteau's son, Philippe, actually died in it during an accident while testing the hull for leaks.

Also - Cousteau's PBY (The Cousteau Society Flying Boat), Revell No. H576 1:72 - hard to find now. 🙂

this is real "base-metal to gold" stuff here! never has an olde-Airfix kit received so much attention!

Great work! A real inspiration how you are using the "disadvantages" of this old kit (aka raised detail) to make it all the more realistic!

Awesome work! A lot of details and I love the effect with the oil colours

Fantastic interiors and painting job for this vintage kit. Following...

Thank you very much all! And yes Bernd, my goal was to achieve a result with all the respect for the old skool raised details. Glad this isn't unseen! 🙂
