Be meticulous with step 3 in your instruction manual. That was where I got over zealous and missed part G16. I see that on my 2nd manual I was crossing off the number of each piece number to not repeat that gaff.
7 March 2021, 19:04

Well that sent me scurrying to the hobby room for the instructions! Warning noted! Thanks Boss! G16 was already primed. Won't tell you anything about snipping E1 into two parts though! 😉

I believe these guys do the proper Gold decal sets and the Big Tobacco sponsorships too\

Lots of picky painting to come I see Peter.
Looking impressive on the donk wiring though. 😉
10 March 2021, 17:43

Thanks Chaz. Not sure if I will bother with them.
Kez, already started and the high tension leads have now been anchored with Aqua Clear. Will also get Mr. Google on the job so I can trace other plumbing and wiring. There are some mounting points provided but no plan in the instructions for locating and routing. Bodywork has been primed so there is lots of preparation to be done.
10 March 2021, 22:58

The end result will be your reward for all the care usually taken by you.
Looking forward to the end product. 👍
10 March 2021, 23:24

Yeah Bossy, wasn't complicated and didn't use much masking tape.
Chaz and Marty, I haven't used Tamiya lacquers but SMS lacquers are brilliant! I love them!
13 March 2021, 22:44

Monocoque looks really sharp👍 Waiting for the end result, the black/gold livery is simply gorgeous
13 March 2021, 23:28

So, are you doing Austria with the tabaccos or Britain without the smokes that come with the kit? The upside to the kit decals is the black backgrounds. Doing pinstripes by themselves........toooooo much fun.
15 March 2021, 00:13

If memory serves, it's wise to do the pinstripes back to front to make sure the nose comes out correctly.
15 March 2021, 07:18

If it our Nige's car, don't forget to include a mustache comb in the cockpit.
15 March 2021, 07:53

Chaz, he is "your" Nigel not mine!
Too late Boss, just spent five hours on them! I'll put some pics up tomorrow.
15 March 2021, 08:31

Found my way in - a classic 🙂 lovely engine too - following what´s about to happen here - stylish black checked, now bring out the gold! 👍
15 March 2021, 11:56

The great thing about F1 modelling is they are always in perfect condition right up to the grid.
20 March 2021, 16:50

Thank you all for the encouragement! I have spent the weekend alcladding anything that didn't move! Then, the big test when I can work up the courage, 2k.
21 March 2021, 08:50

I heard that all the paint on the headers burned off with the first bench test. !!!hehehehehehe 🙂
22 March 2021, 03:47

I can't wait until I can actually have these items in the palm of my hand. ! Your work is getting better and better.
A BIG salute to you Peter 😉 👍
17 April 2021, 07:58

that black paint looks simply perfect my friend. you are making a true beauty here!
17 April 2021, 08:55

I'm always amazed by this kind of shiny & smoth paintjobs. 👍 looking forward to the next photos 😎
18 April 2021, 21:06

More black & gold - good! 👍 those decals underneath the gloss coats look spectacular - a reference for pit crews how a clean racer should look like 😉
20 April 2021, 17:44

That developed into something beautiful👍
That is just how it should look like👍
Fantastic result Peter👍👍👍
Congrats
28 April 2021, 09:35

AND. I get to play with it in a couple of weeks. !!
Nothing better than sitting next to the bloke who taught me how to be a better person than I was yesterday. 🙂
I love your work Peter. (Guru. 😉)
28 April 2021, 22:13

Alex G, happy with my progress on the paintwork now, thank you for the inspiration!
Thank You Bart, I am enjoying the auto and Moto builds at the moment!
Rui, I cannot say I have "mastered" the skill yet but I am making progress. What I really want for Xmas is a few new Moto GP kits to be released!
Kerry, two hands mate, TWO hands!!!
Jimbo, love the new avatar Buddy! Thank you for your encouragement. (Sorely needed at times)!
29 April 2021, 02:17

"Peter Hardy
I say thank you Martin!"
I say my pleasure Richard 👍 🙂
29 April 2021, 16:16

Shiney and new like a Race ready F1 should be. Looks ready for a quali lap. It feels so alien that they raced without front wings, that was a strange period for F1 design, the wheels are an odd design too.
29 April 2021, 22:46

Daniel Klink, I say thank you Daniel! There a couple of things I could have done better and thanking a Dutchman instead of a German was probably one of them! ? overall another step forward! Thanks for having my back!
29 April 2021, 23:41

Slavo, I have some jets here, early jets. Kerry gave me a Huckebein and I got a couple of Korean combatants from Christian Breuer on marketplace. Christian also "donated" a shitload of accessories for both. But, with you and Spanjaard here it is a bit intimidating to try! When you go on holidays for five years I will have a go! Thanks for the support with the wheeled models, means a lot!
29 April 2021, 23:49

Chaz, mate, The lack of front wings was a head scratcher for me. The kit came with a pair but they were not used at Silverstone. Why I do not understand. Maybe with the multitude of long straights at Silverstone the car was slowed by the extra wind resistance??? Anyway, very happy with the paint, the additions I have made to the engine and the scratch built part. Thanks for the comments!
29 April 2021, 23:53

They didn't use front wings because the skirts sucked those badboys right down onto the track. They did use them on the street circuits, but on the low downforce tracks, they were not needed.
30 April 2021, 00:04

Peter, here is the ultimate jet for you - worthy of your skills with "fast shiny things" 😉 :

but generally I really don´t see a single reason why you of all people should have any self-doubts concerning anything with "exposed tech"... Every time I do something around my bicycle gears or chain (only set of 2-wheels I have, and that´s very good so 😄), I go "this kind of stuff looks so much better on Pete´s models than on this real thing..."
30 April 2021, 09:10

82 Was the last year of Ground effect cars (Until 2022 that is) When they had front wings, they were little more than a knife blade, so as not to interrupt the airflow under the car. Taking a look at the fat front wings of the 1983 cars, you can see just how much downforce they lost.
30 April 2021, 19:52

It's not often that you can put a smile on an old man's face, but looks like you've done it in spades there Pete!
Good to see you and Kezza together, and sharing a beer or twelve!
I'll hoist a couple in honor of you both from this side of the "ditch" 😉
14 May 2021, 05:23

Thank you Gentlemen! I have been blessed by a visit from Kerry. He has brought that wonderful sense of humour with him too. A pity I am the butt of most of the jokes but Mam thinks it is wonderful she has some back up for a week!
14 May 2021, 21:22

Mates. ! Peter is underplaying the enjoyment and companionship we shared for a solid week of banter and side by side building experience. ! Something all of you must do at some time if you have a close friend you share this hobby with. 👍
Peter went to a lot of effort, presenting a kit for me to build that was by no means an inexpensive kit to buy, and especially exceptional given that he has retired and with a limited budget to see him through.
He and his amazing wife made me feel most welcome and they extended the hand of friendship like I have never known before, and I am most grateful for all he said and did. A true mate and friend. "Thank you Peter.". 🙂 👍
21 May 2021, 18:44

I will add here that Peter's collection of built models is most impressive to see and, to have a real close up look at his efforts was a real treat, especially the PT boat. ! WOW. The photos he took and posted of it failed to do his build justice. A most talented modeller indeed.🙂 👍
21 May 2021, 18:51

Awww, now I am embarrassed! Very happy you enjoyed our week together as I certainly did. Not to mention the lessons learned!
22 May 2021, 01:00

Speaking with the two of finally gave me some juice to open up the paint booth again. There's paint on the Miura!
Thanks Peter and Kerry! 👍
22 May 2021, 06:53

What. ??!! You actually thought we were being SERIOUS Marty. ???
Hahahaha, only kidding big fella. 🙂
I am really pleased we were of some benefit mate. 😉 👍
22 May 2021, 07:32

That's a very nice compliment to your budy Peter, Kezza. 👍
Nice to know that both of you enjoyed quality time toghether. Well done.
22 May 2021, 21:19

And we are off again 😉, you are not old Peter, well lived... ah, I once heard how to measure the true age of a person: the feeling you have the day after you tried to prove you were young.
24 May 2021, 09:07

I gave up trying, when I hired someone for my team, and realised I owned socks that were older than he was. I'm not kidding, I still have 3 pairs of military issue wool socks that I was issued 34 years ago.
29 May 2021, 11:53

Beautiful F1 Car and the one and only "Redfive" ..
Fantastic Result 👍
5 January 2022, 16:40
