Been modelling for over 50 years including my adult and childhood years, my first kit was the Frog 39 Pioneer whittle jet plane, made a mess of it of course, but loved every minute of it, Later I made a mess of the Bandai 1/48 Panzer4, had screeming ab dabs about that, then carefully made the Revell Black magic Sherman tank kit, late 60's. Couldn't stop looking at the finished unpainted model, glue everywhere but I loved it. Then after Vintage cars Airfix 1/32 series, got given a Tamiya 1/35th scale M3a2 in 1977, and the rest,as they say, is history.
look at me with my stash that reflects my early modelling experiences, any modern kits I buy, don't stay in the stash for long before they are made up and placed in glass cases for display at my local model shop, some have even ended up in museums. Now I'm retired I can build what I want, when I want, apart from my days out on a Run, just to keep fit, not that I'm a competition runner, but after a lifetime of public service, it's time to have some real fun. Today I'm building the Bronco Models A9 Cruiser tank, at present I have an early war kick, my model room has shelves displaying the 1/700 I love Kit Bismarck, the Tamiya 1/48 Swordfish, wings folded on a ac lift, the early war Airfix S boat, and an out of place Tamiya 1/350 Fletcher class Destroyer, just cos it's purdy. All in glass cases, all out of the dust and the duster danger, all away from inquisitive little fingers or a cats paw. A glass case gives a model a touch of class. But most of all it encapsulates a model in it's display, sealed and finished, no fiddling, no, I'll just change that tiny detail. it's final sealed, you can move on.
