I'm a life-long modeler, an IPMS member since 1966 (Junior Member, Atlanta Chapter) and, since the late 70s, a Life Member (having served as IPMS/USA Journal Editor and national officer); but mostly, I'm a modeler who loves all kinds of models. I started with aircraft, made a tank on a dare, began figures while Editor (it took so much time that I had "hobby" time for one figure between issues), and have done dioramas, ships, even a scratch-built Noah's Ark and a scratchbuilt SF spaceship.
I am also a military historian - 9x times on History Channel, and published (mostly about mil-tech) since 1972, Air Classics. Published recently in Newsweek Japan on the atom bombing of Japan, and the 10,000,000 civilian lives that saved.
I have several modeling and mil-history related blog-sites, including:
barnettonnavalhistorymodeling.blogspot.com/
barnettonaviation.blogspot.com/
barnettoutofthebox.blogspot.com/
barnettonafvmodeling-history.blogspot.com/
barnettonmodeling-how-to.blogspot.com/
barnettspeakingofhistory.blogspot.com/
barnettonhistory.blogspot.com/
barnettonmilitaryhistory.blogspot.com/
I make my living in marketing, publicity, social networking, press/media relations and book ghost-writing - and I help other authors get their books published and promoted: brandonpublishing.blogspot.com/
But as my "dual passion" with modeling, I "do" history whenever I can, including a historically-accurate novel about air combat in the Pacific early in WW-II. Portions of that novel (think Web Griffin -it's already over 2,900 pages) can be found as eBooks on Amazon here:
amazon.com/s/ref=nb_..0air%20war%20pacific
I look forward to participating here on Scalemates, to learning a lot and contributing when I can.
