I've been building Scale Models and Miniatures for a little over 30 years. I am a member of two great local model clubs, IPMS Butch O'Hare and IPMS Techmagies. As well as a member of IPMS USA.
My interest in model building actually came at a very early age. I think I was about eight or nine when I was on vacation with my parents in Wisconsin Dells. We were visiting an attraction called Fort Dells and as I came down the steps of one of the corner towers there was this miniature diorama of a Civil War battle. Needless to say it was the most amazing thing I ever saw, well at that age anyway, and from that moment on I knew I wanted to have something like that for myself so I developed an interest in model building.
When I was a cub scout I was in the Model of the Month Club. (If you remember when that was around in the 80's, you were sent two models every month, mostly Monogram and Revell cars and planes). Of course, at that time I was just putting them together because they looked cool but, when I turned fifteen, I decided to take on model building as a serious hobby. With my main inspiration being the late, great, Sheperd Paine. I bought and read as many Scale modeling related books and magazines as I could and entered my first contest as a junior.
Over the course of many years and hundred's of hours of practice, I have won numerous awards and medals. These include Gold, Silver, Bronze, 1st., 2nd., 3rd, and a few "Best of", in many different categories at both the local and regional level.
