Personal interest:
The original prototype of this high-altitude, long-endurance UAV, known as Tier III-, flew in March 1996 but crashed on its second flight. This model represents the second prototype, designated RQ-3A Darkstar, which was tested from 1998 to 1999, at which point the program was abandoned to pursue more promising options.
