Personal Interest:
This model represents the M1A1 Abrams main battle tank (MBT) operated by armor battalions of the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) during my tour of duty at Fort Carson. Although 4th Infantry did not deploy for Operation Desert Storm, the armor was nonetheless painted desert sand in case rapid deployment became necessary. M1A1 Abrams were frequently operated on the Fort Carson reservation and the Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site for exercises.
