Through the stages

 

 

Colours didn't turn out as expected so I decided to start again 

Using this image as a reference of the colours I was aiming for. 

 

 

 

Back to pre-shading again. 

 

I purchased this masking kit from BNA models which turned out very well. 

 

 

Experimenting with mixing different shades of SMS Blues, I came up with this. It may not be accurate, but I am happy with it. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I'd finally found my reference photo of what I was aiming for. I love the weathering detail on this image. 

I found this image on Instagram and it was close to the livery that I am doing. 

 

Inside my newly acquired spray booth, this project is finally coming together.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Just when I thought my puttying skills were getting there, this image highlights where I fell short on the joining of the upper and lower fuselage sections near the nose cone. ?‍♂️  

 

 

 

 

Overall, I enjoyed the new techniques with painting with SMS paints and AK Xtreme metals along with altering the rudder and flaps of a model. I was not aiming for a competition level finish but rather a lessons learn't with new techniques gathered from podcasts and Youtube.
This Italeri kit fall short with the undercarriage as it was difficult to line up where the hinges should have been which ruined the overall finish (pics to come). Thank you for viewing my build and I will definitely build another Flanker model but from another top quality kit.
