8 December 2014, 21:00

Thanks guys for your nice commence, she's almost ready for some paint on the inside, pictures will follow later 😉
9 December 2014, 20:39

Count me also in! Bought this kit a few weeks ago and really curious how it will look like😉
10 December 2014, 06:59

@Vegard, I've get my information of the interior on the internet to mimic as closely as possible, I know as I made it now may not be the correct one but when the hulls are closed there is not much more to see of the inside, I just wanted to update a bit the internals because these are a little poor
@Kim, thanks mate 👍
@Matthias, gerald and John, thanks for the nice commence mates.

It seem's to Me that wiil be a great looking modell.can't wait for more pictures (I have one in my stash, so your work is great for reference).
10 December 2014, 18:30

Now you've done it! It has to be your best masterpiece now. You have got all these people watching with baited breath!!
10 December 2014, 19:26

@Philip I guess references from most Catalinas should be close enough. The Black Cat's antennas kind of suggests there should be some sort of radio/radar equipment somewhere though, but it's hard to find interior pics of this particular aircraft on google. Probably nothing that would be visible anyway 🙂
10 December 2014, 20:12

@Vegard, indeed in the Black Cat's was a radio and radar equipment but like you say nothing is visible when it's closed, so I decided not to make it
10 December 2014, 21:08

@ Dave: Don´t put too much pressure on him, he might transfer it to the model and break it... 🙂
11 December 2014, 03:53

Don't worry Matthias, this is totally fun, I won't break it, and pressure, what is that? 😉
11 December 2014, 16:35

First color is on the inside, next will be to paint the details

11 December 2014, 21:29

Why yellow? All the pictures I have seen from WWII (color) were Chromate Green?
12 December 2014, 07:01

The instructions says chromate green Dave, This is the first layer, the next layer is a thin layer of chromate green and the details that there now are will be remain by the chromate green. It is perhaps an unusual method but I wanted to try this.

22 December 2014, 14:59

Is the external finish a satin (semi-matte) very dark charcoal gray?
22 December 2014, 15:13

Hi Phil, on the external isn't any paint sofar, this is only a dryfit of the body.

29 December 2014, 14:11

@Frank, mine will not look like that one, is it yours? 😉
29 December 2014, 17:04

@Philip: No, not mine, but I like this way of modelling and it's a Catalina...😉
And yours will look much better!
29 December 2014, 18:06

perhaps silly to say, however I still like the look of the kit plastic; scaled black and satin finish.

The weathering effect especially the chipping. Did you made with a brush a grey/silver colour?
22 January 2015, 08:54

Thanks mates
@soeren, the chipping is done with a brush and with a lighter shade of bleugray

17 February 2015, 08:51

Clean build, great shading and a very creative presentation! 👍👍👍
I guess the base is an A4-size frame, showing to advantage what a big beast this is. 😄
17 February 2015, 09:03

Thanks mates. The base is a Little bit smaller than a A4 paper. Its a big beast.

17 February 2015, 12:47

The result is amazing! Wow! Was it common to use support stands in the back of Catalinas, or was the model a tail sitter?
17 February 2015, 18:50

It was not a tail sitter but the nose wheel was to fragiel and i have desaithe to make a support stand. Now its got more stability.
Thanks for your comment mates
