Michael, thank you. 🙂
Gareth, it sure did. I used Alclad gloss black primer. That stuff is awesome. Made a good base for it.
Ekki, welcome sir. 🙂

Welcome gents. I am hoping to get some tangible progress made Thur evening. This coming weekend is my birthday weekend, it being on the 11th, so I will be a little occupied with celebrations from Fri on. 😄

So, I got back around to it this evening. Got the nose cone in, exhausts on and tail and canopy black. Next up, decals and weathering!

Erik, thank you sir. 🙂
Michael, working on those now. How many stencil decals can you have on a 1/72 kit of a plane that wasnt all that big? Too damn many.

Yeah there is quite a few on the Lightning if I remember correctly, oh and placing the black lines on the wings is really fun.😢

Michael, I believe you mean those lines?😉 They were not as bad as the belly lines. I hate lining up stuff on curved surfaces.
19 June 2018, 02:11

I found the belly lines not that bad, but I was glad when all the decals were finally on.🙂

So the sides and top are decaled. Just the bottom to go. busy this weekend, so will not get to it until next week. Couldnt get the damn phone to focus for the side shots for some reason.

Almost there. Just waiting on those parts to dry completely and I will decal them and attach. Hopefully be done later tonight.

Alrighty! She is done. This was an awesome kit. Any fit issues were, I think, my fault. I want to do another to see if it was me or the kit with the cockpit issue I had. Regardless, this one stands right with Tamiya and the rest IMO. The decals were superb. They melted down really well with solva set. Totally recommend this kit.
And I really liked how the AK metal acted. Sprayed well and brushed well on small parts and touch up.

You're right Donald she did come out awesome, and she really looks the part all armed up and waiting to go and intercept one of those stray Rusky bombers.👍👍👍
2 July 2018, 05:22

Well done Donald. That metal came out relly nice. What's next? Another Limey or a Jerry?
2 July 2018, 13:22

Nice work as usual Don. I don't know how you guys work on those 1/72'S! Too small for me!

Thank you all! I am humbled by your praise. 🙂
Martin, About to start up on a 1/48 H-34 Choctaw. For the same group build I did this one for.
Timothy, I swore I would not start doing them a lot. And I really AM trying not to do small planes like this in 72. But the kit had good reviews and was on sale...
David, I get a pregnant guppy vibe. LOL But a flipping FAST guppy!

Another great job Donald. I may give the AK metals a go on my phantom when it's ready.

It looks nice, the AK stuff gave a really cool result, but to be honest I wonder what happened to the air inlet part (pic 27). Thanks for the review anyway, good to know this kit is so nice OOB only 👍. I have to consider buying me one as well.

Lukasz, thats my fault. I screwed up and had to hand paint that area as all the decals were on masking it would have been a nightmare. Im gonna fiddle with it at some point I am sure.
And thanks guys! 🙂

Album info
Two Brit planes in a row! LOL Started this for a cold war group build elsewhere. It was all Soviet and American stuff, so I figured I was already doing the Vulcan, why not? LOL
This is a nice little kit. I did have and issue with the cockpit keeping the fuselage halves from joining properly. I had to remove most of the corner of the cockpit tub to get it to work. Not sure if I screwed something up, or if it was the kit. Otherwise, its not bad at all.
I tried AK Extreme metal for the first time. I am liking the results! A definite good alternative to Alclad. Hopefully I will be wrapping this up in a few days. I always say that...
