This is an aircraft that is very special to me, Yugoslav Air Force MiG-21UM s.n. 16174. It was my first aircraft when I started working as an aircraft mechanic and it was very important to me to make it as similar to an actual aircraft from that period. And I'm happy with the result.
Trumpeters kit doesn't provide an open canopy option so I had to do some additional work - creating the frame between the front and rear cabin, the internal part of the periscope, and canopy supports. I've also moved the venturi pipe from the bottom to the port side below the cabin. The Pitot tube is a brass one from the "Master".
The initial plan was to leave the electronics bay open, but due to the engineering error in the kit, it wasn't possible for me at that stage of the build. The whole internal part of the cabin is larger than the canopy and the front instrument panel with the HUD is placed too far forward and goes inside the electronics bay. If I had known this before I started working, it would be possible to make some adjustments.
Anyway... I'm satisfied and I hope you'll like it too.
