Mirage IIIB - 1/48 - Heller

Album info
Hello,
This is a few pictures of my last built: Mirage IIIB, Heller, 1/48 scale.
The first time I've built this kit (the single seat version) was more than 30 years ago, and I've forgotten how awful it was....
It's just above a Mach2 (or a Fonderie Miniatures, if you like...) kit in term of fittings and details.....
The cockpit is really very basic and would need a lot of detailing. Instead, I' decided to make a "closed canopy" version, and to replace the seats, with some resin aftermarket (Martin Baker MkIV from MDC). I' also replaced the engine exhaust and the landing gear wheels, with the very nice Reskit parts.
The overall kit needs to be re-scribe (it is relief surfaces, originally), but as far as I' know there is no template on the market (like for the Mirage IV) to help you. This part of the built is a bit long and painful.
I' used the Berna decals sheet (the one from the kit was "yellow cooked..."). This decals are strange..... very thick and also very difficult to apply: the stencil wraps in on itself when you remove it from the base... very annoying...
Eventually, it remain a unusual subject, albeit being far from today standards in term of detailing and fitting.
Thanks for looking.
