August 9, 2020Parts ready to be primed2
August 9, 2020Waiting for primer3
August 9, 2020Using the kit's guide pin in the engine block results in significant misalignment visible at the transmission end.4
August 9, 2020Pin removed then a bit of filing and sanding and that seam disappears.5
August 9, 2020Other side looks good too.6
August 9, 2020Tamiya XF-16 on the transmission and 5:1 Testor's 1110 gloss Blue:Flat White hopefully gets me close to pontiac blue.
Of course the engine parts didn't look this clean even when they were in the factory...7
August 12, 2020All assembled and then 'distressed' with some rust, black and aluminum paints.8
August 12, 2020Oil wash and then a satin coat to seal it in.9
August 12, 202010
August 12, 202011
August 12, 2020Underbody12
August 12, 2020Thought it would be 'fun' to add some wire details13
August 12, 2020This should be enough to give it a bit of interest. 'Silver' are lead wire (0.015 and 0.025") while the gloss-black is painted 20 gauge copper beading wire.14
August 12, 2020Radiator and battery. Realized that i'll have to move the battery to the other side to match the real car I'm modeling... that or ask the owner of the 'bird to swap his battery over...15
August 12, 2020A few crazy seam lines to sand.16
August 12, 2020Thats quite the gap...17
August 12, 202018
August 12, 2020Odd edges are all smoothed over.19
August 12, 202020
August 12, 2020Anchored now to the inside of the fender.21
August 12, 2020I'm starting to believe that MPC stands for Modelling-Putty Challenge22
August 12, 2020Some filing and starting to get closer.23
August 12, 202024
August 12, 2020Driver's side will need some work too.25
August 12, 202026
August 12, 202027
August 12, 202028
August 12, 2020Left rear quarter panel.29
August 12, 2020Right rear quarter panel.30
August 12, 2020Seeing this profile makes me think i should be listening to some hair metal while i work.31
August 12, 2020Ready to get the front wheel flares on.32
August 16, 2020Headlights in place33
August 16, 2020Taillights in place34
August 16, 2020Starting to look complete35
August 16, 2020Interior. Couldn't resist drilling out the holes on the steering wheel spokes.36
August 16, 2020Engine bay. Notice the large gap in front of the radiator.37
August 16, 2020Filled now with a strip of 0.020" styrene then added a couple 0.010" styrene braces to match the factory car38
August 25, 2020The kit CB antenna seems pretty chunky. Guitar string to the rescue.39
August 25, 2020Glued onto a portion of the original kit antenna's base and it looks much better.
