Takom 420mm Krupp
1
June 10, 2022I started building aircraft models when I was a kid. When I got back into building models in my 40's I started with a Trumpeter 1/32 Mig 15. I never thought about building anything other kind of models. But my son really liked tanks, and he started to build a Tamiya 1/35 Tiger kit. He was only 8 at the time, so he needed help, and I really enjoyed helping him build his tank model. After this I started to really enjoy building armor kits. The process is different, and I like how you can pretty much build the entire kit before you have to start painting it, unlike an aircraft, when you have to build all of the sub components. Well, building armor kits lead to me buying the Tamyia German Pak 40 anti tank gun for my son. He loved it, and it was so cheap I bought one for myself and I really enjoyed building it, and after that I find that building artillery it my favorite right now. I still enjoy building aircraft, and have a 1/32 Revell ME262 started right now, but these artillery pieces are a blast, and this kit is no exception. I built the smaller Takom Krupp gun, and this kit was just as fun. Its is the biggest kit I have built in some time, and it takes up pretty much my entire desk. Takom once again made a great model. I highly recommend this kit.2

June 10, 2022It was such a nice day out, and my dog was not having me sit and build a model all day inside. She gave up trying to get me to take her for a walk.4

June 10, 2022I hate gluing the chain guardrails. My son said he would do it, so I let him.8
June 10, 2022This Krupp 420mm makes the 88 look tiny.9
June 10, 2022I primed it with Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 black. I love this stuff.10

June 10, 2022I realized I didn't have any brass color paint, so I painted the shell with Tamiya Gold Leaf X-12.
