WIP - Mercedes 190E MOPF

Started the190 a week ago.
The goal is to civilize thera e version to a 190 MOPF . MOPF means "Modellpflege", that's from Mercedes called the bigger facelifts.
The chassis reminded me to build the old Mercedes 230 from Revell....man, this kind of axles are out of time...but at the end when painted, nobody cares 😂

On the next step I painted the interior and completed it.
In the meantime, the bumpers and panels glued on

I started removing the spoilers. The side panels where easy, only sanded the spoilers down.
The front and rear bumpers are more to do. I cutted the bottom parts and glued on "some styrene I found" to get enough material to sand it in shape. I will not say, i like that stuff...I hoped, the bumpers are as easy as the sides. But they are not full plastic, so I have to go this way

On my W201 (a 1992), the spare tire is in the center. Didn't know it could vary .

Thanks Guillaume, perhaps it could be, that the 2.3-16 had this changed? Interesting. now i will search the web for pictures. perhaps there is a mistake in the kit?

looooong time ago the last update, but in the meantime there was sanding, filling, sanding...and so on. Had first layer of primer to see holes and scratches, filed taht again, sandend and so on. You know what i mean.
after a second layer of primer i made the panellines for the front and rear bumper.
today, the final layer of primer and wet sanding. ready for the first paint.

Time is running, so I painted the first layer of Bornitmetallic yesterday. Had some issues on the roof, so I wet sanded it today in the morning and gave the body a second layer of paint. After a short time I painted the first layer of clear coat.
Overall I'm fine with the result. But the roof needs a layer more after wet sanding again. It reminded me to the 57 Bel-Air I am building yet.
I will let it dry tomorrow and start the next layer on the roof.
Than up to the bottom color.

Now the things go fast.
Wet sanded the hood and roof up to 5000 and polished with Tamiya stuff in two steps.
After that, painted the window frames and glued in the windows.....and after a day I glued celebrated the wedding 😉

I like the color also. Perhaps, i also build the e-clas w124 in this colors when the time comes

I attached the grill - painted with Revells Chrome Spray. That is awesome! Also painted the front and rear lights, attached them. At last, i attached the doorhandles and two mirrors.
In the kit only the driverside mirror, so i grabbed one from Revells 124 kit and used it.

Finaly, the wheels.

The Wheels. I choosed BBS-rims. they are for slotcars (real steel polished) and had the exact diameter from the wheels. so i used the tires from the kit, glued the chromering in and attached the golden "disks". to mount them on the axles, i had to choose inner rims from the partsbox and made them fit. No pictures made....stupid.
Finally, i call it done :-D
