This is the scene from the movie showing the Phoenix built from parts scavenged from the crashed C-82. 3D printed skids, ladder, oil drums, tool boxes.

I wanted to add a 1/72 scale Jimmy Stewart, but I'm not that artistic 🙁

You would think that with a novel and a movie there'd be a manufacturer that would do a kit for the Tallmantz Phoenix P-1.

Well, despite the novel and two movies (original and atrocious remake), I'm afraid one has to have recourse to scratch-building: wingsofintent.blogsp..atchbuilt-172nd.html . On the plus side, it's good to see this topic gathering momentum in the modelling community - see also: SCM Newsfeed

Great links, Alex. One thing I always wondered about is where did the glass panes for the crew stations on top of the wing come from? One would think the panes were scavenged from the C-82 cockpit, but I suppose they could have had some extra glass on board. Hollywood magic 🙂
One thing I noticed while studying the film is that the condition of the right prop changes during the film. In one scene it's bent back, and in others it's intact and feathered.
