Sy Bar АвторI used Ammo's Cobra acrylic paint - 'Gulf Orange' as I had it to hand and like the colour. The Cobra paints are good covering and tough. One caution do not use their "cleaner & lacquer thinner" to thin it as I did, by not reading label, before adding to the acrylic unless you want an airbrush full of a custard like substance 🫣🙄. When you use their Acrylic thinner it works a treat 👍

The decals are great and work well with micro sol/set. I was concerned I'd mess the long single colour stripe so cut it into smaller sections. The first went well but the second split into smaller pieces on the paper while soaking, not sure if I did this by forcing it flat? Apart from that they work great as can be seen in the hatch decal on front of boat. I still chickened out with the other side but only cut in half and didn't unfurl till transferring and it remained in complete sections 👍
#Roland I too have the Severn kit but have heard it trickier than this modern example

Sy Bar АвторAll was going well until I looked closer and realised I'd forgot the windows 🤪 I had added the ones I cut out at the rear but some how left the main one out 😳. I also used CA glue and do the cabin is now solid and the whole thing will be bin fodder if I attempt to remove it.
Do I'll try and add the glass pane by pane 🤞I don't make it worse

RolandOops! But I'm confident that you can add them piece by piece. Will be tricky for the last one though. Keep my fingers crossed!

Sy Bar АвторWell the glass saga continues, while they went in one by one the last one (starboard front) leapt inside never to be seen again 🤪. Had to make my own 🤞it stays in place.

Sy Bar АвторCheers everyone for kind words, I'm now declaring this kit done..
This is classed as a starter but I believe that's just because it has glue brushes and paints. The kits is highly detailed and has some great engineering in its construction but I think the nature of the decal stripes make it a little tricky. I also think the hand rails around the deck are a little thick but saying that it gets quite fiddly replacing them.
Overall a fun kit, which could do with a few extra details like more inside, windows in the rear door and engine controls on the outside control deck, all fairly minor.
I like that you can make actual boats from around the coast just a shame you have to purchase a superset sheet to do so.
So support the RNLI visit one of their locations and build this kit
