Would be cool to see the finished kit only in this preshading technique!

Holger i'll sign this one and send it to you, once i've kicked the bucket you'll be filthy rich! 😄
Sören you mean to use the paints like this instead of the primer? yeah, why not - should make things even more interesting.

nice shadowing, you can leave it like that and make it a black and white model....

Very interesting kit. I have it in my stash. looking forward to your build. Carry on

I would be interested to know how you got your airbrush to make such accurate line and tiny shades. Kicking the bucket??? What a Pharse 🙂 🙂 🙂

..and when you kick the bucket I will sell your models! Richer than rich! 🙂🙂

That pre-shading technique looks so cool! I am eager to see how this one turns out!
4 October 2016, 12:34

ooh man, lotsa folks wishing me *well* shame, shame.... 😄
@Nikolas, kit is problematic mate. every joint needs putty and sanding - no exception. i suppose that's the reason why the panel lines are so deep, Revell being Revell must have anticipated what's going to happen!?
@Melf, sparmax 0.2mm airbrush, tamiya flat white mixed with tamiya flat base * 3x IPA for thinner. air pressure less than 10.
Shades: airbrush crown touching the surface BUT the airbrush is almost parallel to the surface, this is the result. you'll have to be precise with the trigger of course.
Mottles: well mottles 😄 same as above but this time perpendicular to the surface and very rapid and erratic movement over the surface otherwise mottles turn into spots into spiders, evident in quite many places.

@Murad ÖZER Not very happy to read that. Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try anyways. I would appreciate to see some more pictures during your build.
4 October 2016, 13:37

...you dont need any paint on this fantastic pre-shading 😉 Looks great, eager to see more and sorry that the kit is not good!

Wow! Very cool result! I always apply to much paint and end up hiding all the pre shading. But your result looks awesome!

Guys thank you very much for all the comments.
Currently i am busy with the weathering, filters and washes so far. Now i'll go with the dirt accumalation and than the panel line touchups.
Finally i'll paint/assy all the last bits and pieces and call her done, soon i hope.
Enjoy

Folks once more big huge thanks 👍
The beast is now done for, enjoy. 🙂

Absolute stunning paintjob, Murad! But do you realy wanna leave her that naked? No pylons, no weapons?
9 October 2016, 16:30

Lovely pre-shading really captures the weather worn state of these great planes
10 October 2016, 02:25

i'm humbled by all this reaction. 🙂
@Holger: about the loadout i really took my time to decide what to do, problem was *almost* entire reference pictures that i came by on the net has the 164 totally naked, in just 1 of them there was the glove pylon, but nothing was hanging from it. scale modeling is of course for fun for me but realism in loadout is something that i pay attention to if possible and in this case i thought i have made enough effort in searching so it's justified - FOREWARNED anybody who comes up with a loaded picture of the 164 will be shot! 😄

Ok everyone, wear a Flak-jacket! 😄 Murad, she is a Beauty, leave her as she is! And as we all know - Beautys have to be naked! LOL😉

So true Holger.... Indeed Grim Reaper birds were usually flying without load. It had to do with their task of training nuggets.
