Well, the pylons are likely the same or close to it between most planes.

Nice work so far mate, and I wouldn't worry about the pylon, a quick check of the Skyraiders pylons and some look similar to the F-4.

Thanks Michael. I have all the pylons off the carrier, now to attach all those sway braces. Started on more weathering the bottom of the aircraft too.
19 December 2019, 15:47

Thanks Michael and Stephan! Added a few more shots of more weathering.

Thanks Chris!
Donald: My worry was masking it without tearing the decal off.
21 December 2019, 03:53

I wasnt thinking that. I was figuring you would use a brush. Get some parafilm. That's what I use for making over decals.
21 December 2019, 15:44

I tried that. I had a post it lift the shark mouth on the A-7. I will stick with parafilm.

I recently used post-it notes as a straight line mask. Wow so quick! I masked and shot in just a couple minutes 🙂
Pro-tip -- get genuine real brand Post-its, not generic brands, their sticky isn't as good as the real deal, may cause some issues.

Some good advice mates! I'm going to mix up the color tonight and see how it goes. I may chicken out and just use card stock and firm pressure, or just hand paint it like Donald suggested.
21 December 2019, 20:56

Cracks have been overpainted. In the end I just used the old hairy stick. The decal looked way too fragile to overlay with any sort of adhesive.

Nice rescue operation! Never would have guessed they were even there 👍
23 December 2019, 19:30

Nice recovery! By the way, I just used a Post-it for a straight edge again. Came out perfect for less than 15 seconds to mask it.

Thanks mates! Some of my old Games Workshop paint came to the rescue.
Now for the pylons and under wing stores. I had a nice surprise today, the Brengun fuel tanks arrived early! I used these because you get 3 in the set and the kit was missing all the originals. I think I'm just going with a simple load of 3X Fuel Tanks, 2X Napalm, and 4X Mk.82 with fuse extensions. I'm leaving one pylon empty on each wing as a spacer between the napalm and mk.82 as I've seen in some pics.

I found Citadel colors quite a good option in the old days. Lost contact to the Games Workshop hobby quite some time ago though... Nice to see that stuff put to good use! 👍
Have a nice Christmas!!

Thanks Clifford!
Slavo: The colors I used are some really old ones, but I've recently purchased some new ones too. They have hundreds of colors, plus some very useful washes, tints & paint specifically for dry brushing.
Merry Christmas to all!

Well after a looooong pause, this one is back on. Finished up the resin fuel tanks and built a few iron bombs. Should get some primer on the bombs today if the weather will cooperate.
19 August 2020, 15:13

Nice to see this one come back to life... Let's take this one to the finish line!
21 August 2020, 13:07

Thanks mates for your interest and encouragement!
Well the weather didn't cooperate, but I managed to get primer on the 14 hard-points and the 4 bombs this morning. Later today I hope to get started on painting everything.
21 August 2020, 16:32

Well I did get the white paint on all the hard-points and fuel tanks with only seconds to spare before the rain hit.
21 August 2020, 22:51

Fuel tanks are complete. Spent today attaching all the hard-points. Hopefully this evening I can finish painting the bombs.

The progress is fabulous aneyway..
You make this old dog look like a tamigawa
23 August 2020, 18:16

Good to see this rugged fellow spring back to life! And a great re-start on the hanging bits and details - the dirty white is spot on 👍
23 August 2020, 19:52

Thanks mates. I'm humbled by your kind comments. Hopefully I'll be able to finish this up tomorrow and be able to present it at my club meeting on Tuesday (as well as post completed images here).
