I just got my first breadboard starter set, and have no idea what all those components are for yet, except for the leds and resistors. I've also got fiber optic cable on the way.
Gotta start somewhere!

JDI made one out of a bug zapper, and the only thing that got zapped was me. It did not generate any static electricity at all, but shocked me several times really good 😛 Oh well, that's how we learn!
