This kit only provide one side of wheels. Eight single direction wheels in the box. If you don't want to mount tire pattern in wrong direction in the other side you need to buy resin wheels.

Why not turn them on one side, or is this not possible?

Yes you can use all wheels or tyres in all places but the pattern will be wrong in one side.

Gee Wilikers, couldn't Trumpeter get ONE thing right on this kit? I understand Armory makes a replacement bottom for this kit because Trumpeter got that wrong too.
