Diorama basen on the raid to finish off the U1060 on the coast of Norway 27.th October 1944. The plane is the Liberator GR Mk.V, BZ723, under the command of S/Ldr Alois Sediviy DFM. No. 311 Sqn. Tain, Scotland. The U1060 was already grounded on a reef by the atoll, Fleina outside Brønnøysund, Norway, after being attacked a couple of dagy earlier by a Fairey Firefly. The U1060 was a type VII F, supply submarine that was used to supply other submarines with torpedos off shore. It was therefor very important to sink the U1060, which was one of only four uboats of its kind. This would ram the Kriegsmarine by forcing the Uboats to leave the battlefield for days to resupply.
