Nice job. Looks like you got the paint job and markings spot on. That's how I plan to do mine in 1/48th by Tamiya. Gary

Thanks Gary! I've since picked up 2 of the Tamiya kits in 1/48 (A6M2 and A6M3 Hamp). The molded detail is excellent!

Hi Ken, Hasagawa also make a nice A6M-5 in 1/48th. I think the cockpit is a little better too on the Hasagawa kit. Do you have any pics of your build inprogress? And what color did you use for the interior? Gary

Has anyone seen the Display base you can put the Tamiya 1/32 Zero on and you press a button and you hear the radial engine starting up ?

I would have to see the prop start to turn and smoke coming out of the exhaust. Great idea though.Gary

Hi Gary. I do have some in process pics somewhere. I'll try & dig them up and post them. I used Tamiya's interior green (XF-71). Speaking of the display base with the engine sound, I bought that kit last year (1/32 Tamiya A6M5). I need to hone my skills before tackling THAT beautiful plastic!

Hi Ken, The interior color almost looks like RAF interior green and the fusalage depending on the light looks almost like RLM02. This is not a criticism, just and observation. They look right to me. Gary

Congratulations! I have the same kit on the shelf but I have a long way to go for it to turn out like that.

I agree with you Gary. I think the flash from the camera changes the hue, because the colors look different in natural light.

I like the one that have the greenish effect. Looks right to me. After all these years we all though that they were more of a dove gray. When we were kids back in the 50's we though they were yellow in color thanks to the old Aurora kit. My how things change. Gary

Album info
Airfix 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero. I built this out-of-box and mixed the paint scheme per Greg Springer's mix ratio, then lightened by 30% for scale effect. I was surprised and quite pleased when the model finished in 3rd place in it's class at the IPMS USA 2014 Nationals in Hampton, VA.
